How long can YOU hold the wall sit? ๐
Today our FYZICAL team put their leg strength and mental grit to the test โ and wowโฆ those quads were ON FIRE! ๐ฅ๐
The wall sit is a simple but powerful test of lower-body strength, endurance, and joint stability โ all essential for staying strong, steady, and independent as we age. ๐ช
Why Wall Sits Matter
A strong lower body helps with:
โ๏ธ Walking confidently
โ๏ธ Standing to cook or volunteer
โ๏ธ Climbing stairs safely
โ๏ธ Reducing fall risk and knee pain
โ๏ธ Everyday independence
Wall Sit Norms (How Do You Compare?)
General endurance benchmarks:
Beginner: 20โ45 seconds
Intermediate: 45โ60 seconds
Advanced: 60โ120 seconds
Elite: 2+ minutes ๐ณ๐ฅ
For active adults 40โ60, holding 1 minute is a solid indicator of lower-body endurance. For seniors 65+, a 30โ45 second hold shows great strength and functional capacity.
How To Do It Correctly
1๏ธโฃ Slide your back down the wall until your hips and knees make a 90ยฐ angle
2๏ธโฃ Keep heels under knees โ no cheating forward!
3๏ธโฃ Core tight, back flat, chest proud
4๏ธโฃ Hold as long as you safely can
5๏ธโฃ QUADS BURNING = youโre doing it right ๐ฅ
This test is all about resilience, strength, and steady progress โ exactly what we love at FYZICAL. Every second you hold is a win. Every attempt makes you stronger. ๐
