📣 Improved Transportation Options for Riders with IDD! 🚗✨

Good news for riders with intellectual and developmental disabilities — ride-sharing company Uber is expanding features aimed at making travel easier and more accessible for people with IDD.

Accessible transportation is an important part of community participation and daily living — and efforts to improve it are welcome progress.

Our friends at Indian Valley got things started in the kitchen by rolling up their sleeves and mixing up their Valentine’s Day treats. The smiles, teamwork, and focus say it all — sometimes the best part is right at the beginning of the recipe!

💘🌹 Valentine’s Day fun at our Delco Programs! 🌹💘

Our Delco friends celebrated Valentine’s Day with lots of smiles, sweet treats, and plenty of love in the air. From festive activities to time spent with friends and staff, it was a great reminder that belonging and connection are worth celebrating every day.

Our Delco individuals have been enjoying some of the best kinds of program days — crafting, baking, and spending time together. From getting creative with hands-on projects to making something sweet in the kitchen, these activities are all about building skills, confidence, and connection (with plenty of smiles along the way).

🥶❄️ When it’s freezing outside, we find the fun indoors! ❄️🥶

A couple of our friends have been making the most of the cold weather with some meaningful indoor adventures — mini golf, time getting creative with art, and a meal at a favorite chicken place (sorry… no free ads 😉).

Proof that even on the chilliest days, there are still plenty of ways to stay active, connected, and smiling! 💙

Attention individuals and families — the LEAF Scholarship program through the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council is now open! These scholarships provide up to $750 per person to help individuals with developmental disabilities and their family members attend conferences, trainings, and events that promote leadership, education, and self-advocacy.

📣 Momentum is building for Direct Support Professionals — and your voice matters! 📣

Bipartisan support continues to grow for the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act (H.R. 6137), a bill that would direct the Office of Management and Budget to consider creating a distinct occupational classification for DSPs. This is an important step toward better recognition, data tracking, and long-term workforce support for the professionals who provide essential care every day.

In recent weeks, several new members of Congress have signed on as cosponsors, including leaders who serve on the House Committee on Education and Workforce — a strong sign of growing momentum for this effort.

Now it’s more important than ever to keep the pressure on and urge more lawmakers to support this legislation.
