🛑 Stop Guessing! Know the Difference. We talk about the difference between viable nits (eggs) and hatched casings all the time because it is the key to ending the infestation. If you can't spot the camouflaged ones, the lice will always come back!
Swipe through these microscopic photos to see exactly what we mean:
➡️ Image 1 & 2: The ACTIVE Threat! See that tiny, dark speck glued right near the scalp? That is a live louse or a viable nit (egg waiting to hatch). They are dark because there's a baby louse in there and to camouflage with the hair, and must be close to the scalp for warmth. This is why your chemicals fail—they are too good at hiding and their cement like casing protects them.
➡️ Image 3 & 4: The Evidence! See the small, white, or clear ovals further down the hair? Those are empty casings (hatched nits). They aren't a threat, but they are proof that live bugs have already emerged and are crawling and breeding.
