We are proud to share that RHRC’s Peer Recovery Expansion Program (PREP) was featured in The Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health’s latest issue of Pennsylvania Rural Health Magazine.

Authored by RHRC’s very own PREP Project Manager Diana Carpenter, the article highlights the mission and impact of PREP, embedding Certified Recovery Specialists (CRSs) in rural hospitals to provide one-on-one support, and strengthening recovery pathways in resource constrained communities.

This recognition showcases the vital role PREP plays in advancing rural health and reflects RHRC’s commitment to building stronger, healthier rural communities.

In October and November, RHRC’s Peer Recovery Expansion Program (PREP) team, alongside our technical assistance partner Pitt PERU, conducted SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) trainings at Punxsutawney Area Hospital, Penn Highlands Tyrone Hospital, Endless Mountains Hospital, Barnes-Kasson Hospital, and Trehab.

These sessions equipped hospital and drug and alcohol staff with tools to better support patients in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, building confidence, compassion, and clinical skills in every interaction.

We are proud to advance behavioral health access and empower rural providers to meet the needs of their communities.
