Did you know? 🤔
A common misconception is that consequence and punishment mean the same thing. That they both mean “bad” things. False!

A consequence is anything that follows a behavior, good or bad!
A punishment, on the other hand, is a consequence that reduces the likelihood of the behavior happening again.

This applies to daily life! Not just those that we serve. The concepts of ABA are all around us. Here's a real world example:

Touch a hot stove 🔥 → Feel pain 😣 → Less likely to touch it again🙅🏻‍♀️.
That’s punishment, not just a “bad thing,” but a change that decreases behavior.
