Thrive Center for Independent Living is hiring an Independent Living Core Service Specialist in Harrisburg, PA. This role is all about supporting people with disabilities to live independently, build skills, and access the services they need to thrive. 💪💛
What You’ll Do:
As an Independent Living Specialist, you’ll:
✅ Advocate for consumers and teach self-advocacy skills
✅ Provide information & referral services to connect people with resources
✅ Lead independent living skills training (budgeting, transportation, daily living, etc.)
✅ Support peer groups and individual consumer goals
✅ Assist with nursing home transitions and housing research
✅ Document progress, maintain case records, and coordinate with staff & community agencies
✅ Continue developing professionally to strengthen your advocacy and service delivery
Qualifications:
• Two years in human services or a bachelor’s degree in social services
• Experience in independent living or working with people with disabilities preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented
• Must be able to travel within our service area and work flexible hours as needed
Position Details:
💵 Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
🕒 Job Types: Full-time or Part-time
📅 Schedule: Monday–Friday
📍 Location: In person (Harrisburg, PA)
