Nurses are trained to assist with such needs as ventilator dependence or tracheostomy care. Aides are trained for day-to-day living assistance. Our services are provided for 3-24 hours per day and up to 7 days per week, depending on a client's needs. Locally owned and operated, we know our clients and their families personally. We serve them with the same skill and compassion we would extend to our own family.

We encourage families to prepare before severe weather arrives. Contact your power company to register medical needs in advance. Know that local fire stations often maintain power during outages. Preparation replaces panic with clarity.

When a home loses power and a child or aging parent depends on medical equipment, every minute matters.

We always recommend calling your power company on a bright sunny day to register medical needs for priority restoration. Do not wait until the power is already out. Make your home a priority today.

If an outage does happen, fire stations are often staffed during storms and have electricity available. They can provide a safe place to charge medical equipment without needing to go to the hospital unless it is absolutely necessary.

Preparation reduces panic. A simple phone call now can make all the difference later.

After the recent storms and cold temperatures, we encourage families to review emergency essentials. Keep water stocked. Confirm distilled water for medical equipment. Ensure feeding supplies are available. Replace flashlight batteries. Keep vehicles fueled. Preparing while conditions are calm helps reduce panic during an outage.

We remind families of this often because it is so important.

If your loved one depends on medical equipment and you have been provided a backup battery or a second machine, please make sure it stays plugged in and charged at all times.

Power does not only fail during storms. It can go out without warning, even on a clear day. A backup is only helpful if it is ready.

Preparation does not have to be complicated. Sometimes it is simply remembering to keep the backup plugged in.

During recent outages caused by winter storms, we have been reminding families to confirm that medical backup equipment is always plugged in and charging. Backup ventilators and batteries are only effective if ready at all times. Preparation today protects your loved one tomorrow.

With recent severe cold and winter storms across our area, we want to remind families that snow removal can pose serious health risks for older adults. Heavy lifting and icy conditions increase the risk of falls, cardiac strain, and respiratory stress. When independence is important to your loved one, arranging early snow removal can be a thoughtful and protective solution.

02/26/2026

The Cleveland Clinic recently shared a reminder that snow shoveling can be dangerous, especially for adults over 45.

Cold weather combined with heavy lifting places strain on the heart and lungs, and it significantly increases the risk of falls. For older parents who value their independence, this can be a difficult conversation.

One simple solution many families use is scheduling snow removal early in the morning before their loved one heads outside. It protects their safety while still respecting their pride.

Independence matters. Safety matters too. Sometimes the best protection is quiet planning.

Seeing your parents change can bring many feelings at once. None of them mean you are doing something wrong. They mean you care. Be gentle with yourself and remember that you do not have to face this alone.
