🔥🌾 Fire Safety in Garrard County
With Kentucky’s ongoing dry conditions, the risk of field and equipment fires during harvest has increased significantly. Even small sparks from machinery can ignite dry crops in seconds.

👉 Children should always remain at a safe distance under adult supervision.
👉 Farmers and operators are encouraged to inspect machinery regularly, clear debris, and keep extinguishers accessible.
👉 Sign up for Garrard County’s Hyper-Reach system to receive real-time alerts about burn bans, fire conditions, and emergency updates.
👉 Have a clear evacuation plan for people and livestock in case a fire spreads unexpectedly.

A safe harvest protects not only our crops, but our families, farms, and communities.

🚜⚠️ Slow down. Stay alert. Save lives.
Rural roads may seem quiet, but farm equipment doesn’t always fit in a lane. During National Farm Safety & Health Week, give tractors, combines, and other machinery the space they need—a moment of caution can prevent a lifetime of regret.

👀 Tips for safety:
* Always watch for slow-moving vehicles
* Use lights and reflective markings on equipment
* Stay focused, avoid distractions, and give extra room

🌾 Safety Sunday Fact 🌾
September is Healthy Aging Month — a reminder that farm families need to care for their hearts as much as their crops. Heart disease remains the #1 health risk for farmers over 50, but staying active, eating whole foods, and managing stress all support healthy aging in agriculture.
