In honor of Doctors’ Day, the Hartford Hospital Medical Staff donated $10,000 to benefit the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV), which leads a statewide network of organizations focused on advocacy, outreach, and education.

This donation supports CCADV’s mission to eliminate living in fear and underscores Hartford Hospital’s commitment to partnering with community leaders who advance policy, advocate for victims, and raise awareness to address domestic violence as a serious public health issue.

Celebrating one of our 2026 Black & Red Heroes, Luis Oyola šŸ–¤ā™„ļø

Luis leads by example every day. In the operating room and throughout the hospital, he goes above and beyond to support staff, live our values, and keep patient care at the forefront. He treats everyone with respect and sets the tone just by how he shows up.

From evenings and weekends to stepping in across departments, Luis gives his time to make sure patient areas are clean, safe, and cared for.

We’re proud to recognize Luis for the dedication, consistency, and care he brings to Hartford Hospital!

Meet Carmen, one of our 2026 Black & Red Heroes šŸ–¤ā™„ļø

A devoted mom, wife, and SNHU student – she embodies grit and heart. Known as the ā€œgo‑toā€ teammate who never says no, Carmen shows up with love, dedication, and excellence every single day. As she celebrates five years with us in March, we’re proud to celebrate her and her incredible year of accomplishments!

As we look ahead to the 2026 Black & Red, we’re taking time to spotlight some of the Hartford Hospital Heroes whose work reflects the heart of our mission šŸ–¤ā™„ļø

Today, we’re proud to recognize Angela Alatrista. Her impact is especially meaningful because of the way it reaches the community. Widely known, respected, and trusted, Angela continues to find innovative ways to remove barriers to care. This year at Medical Mission, she pioneered a new shuttle process – coordinating with LAZ and community partners to create pickup locations across Hartford – allowing more than 300 community members to attend who otherwise wouldn’t have had access.

This is what it means to be a Hero!

More stories to come as we count down to the Gala.

We are proud to share that CHEFA (Connecticut Health & Educational Facilities Authority) awarded a $75,000 grant to support critical equipment upgrades for Hartford Hospital’s Department of Dentistry.

This investment strengthens our ability to care for more than 12,700 dental patients each year—many from underserved communities—and reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality and compassionate care, regardless of ability to pay.

Thank you, CHEFA, for your partnership and commitment to reducing barriers to care, expanding community outreach, and keeping dignity and humanity at the center of healthcare.
