Integrated Anesthesia Associates, in collaboration with Hartford Healthcare and the Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation, held the 3rd Annual IAA Youth Scholars Program this past week. This year’s program had student ambassadors representing seven high schools across the state. The IAA Youth Scholars program was designed to provide high-achieving high school students with a window into the world of potential career options in the healthcare field and to help create a vision of the endless possibilities and an understanding of opportunities should they consider pursuing a clinical profession. The week provided daily clinical shadowing opportunities along with daily didactic training on the fundamentals of airway management, and the week culminated with all of the students coming together in Hartford on the last day of the week where they were CPR certified and where they had an opportunity to participate in hands on simulation training at the CESI Center before a concluding ceremony, which was attended by family members of the students.
