So this update is past due, and I’m so sorry for that. We had a month this last time between appointments instead of two weeks. Since all of the lengthening is complete it wasn’t necessary. Everything looked great on the X-rays. Her legs are also laying more flat. The ladies in X-ray noticed that right off. The dr wanted her to increase her protein intake as it will help in bone growth.
Her feet are still not flat. The Dr explained that when we go back for surgery in a few weeks, they will just kind of snip a little on each side of her Achilles tendons. Think of a rope abd just fraying on each side. It will grow back so she will not have ankle weakness.
We will tentatively be going back Dec. 10. They will take X-rays and after the Dr looks at them, if everything looks good, she will schedule surgery for the next day. The lower fixators will come off. We will be able to come home that day.
Tegan is standing more at home and using her walker. She also gets in and out of the bed into her wheelchair by herself. Taking care of personal care by herself. She stood up at the bar and was so shocked. Before surgery she was eye level with it. She now stands a good 4 inches above it. I asked her if the surgery was worth it, and got a big Yes!!!
Thank you all for caring about our girl.
