Consumer reports recently reported on the 11 worst hospitals by cesarean rate. Not surprisingly, my original hospital was listed among the 11. I am quoted in this post! Why is this important to know? You may be choosing your hospital for the wrong reasons. The hospital that I had my two VBA3Cs at did not have shiny floors and the food was pretty sub par. But I promise you, my experience there was far better.

This is so true. It's happening too often. It was why I was induced with my very first baby. He was supposed to be 10 lbs and was only 8 lbs 6 oz.

It's all kind of a guessing game, it turns out.

The words ‘Cesarean Awareness Month’ can invoke a number of thoughts and emotions in the hearts and minds of those who perceive it. For some, it is perceived as a an acknowledgement of a maternal care system that does not always, for any number of reasons, act in the best interests of both mothers and babies. For others, it is a finger in the chest of a birthing mother or a woman who has given birth, a judgement of her; her body, her birth, her motherhood, her womanhood, as some sort of innate ‘failure.’ For others still, they most identify with the murky gray area in between.
