Shamanism changed my life. More than Yoga, or Reiki, or any of the many trainings I have participated in. Shamanism shook me to my core.
Taught me to listen to the wisdom of my heart and my soul. Helped me clear energetic blocks and reclaim my life with freedom and power.

Victim validating questions were replaced with curious questions that helped me get to the heart of my issues. Helped me to see the patterns I continually found myself spiraling in and how to slow down and discern what I could do, what needed to stay and what needed to go.

I learned to sense which season my life was in and how I could best support myself. This includes calling tribe when I need extra love and support to clear what is breaking down and to birth what is breaking through.

Shamanism, for me, has been the practice of trusting myself, not abandoning or sabotaging myself, and learning to love all of me and reflect that back to the world. To create safety in my body, in my home and in my community.

Shamanic Healing Sessions

Advanced Energy Medicine: Shamanic Healing/Quantum Healing

Modern Shamanism centers around the native medicine wheel from cultures across the globe, and the natural cycles of life. Like the seasons we too go through changes and symbolic cycles of life, death, and rebirth. Shamanic sessions guide us to work with these natural cycles to:
+ gain traction in life,
+ create safety in our bodies and healthy boundaries,
+ manifest our authentic, soulful desires,
+ live and love with freedom and options,
+ transmute outdated energetic patterns and step into being our favorite, authentic self.

This form of energetic healing may include the use of crystals/stones, feathers, drumming, breathing exercises, and gentle hands-on bodywork to restore the energy body. Practices may include:
+ inner child healing,
+ shadow work,
+ working with past lives,
+ shifting karmic lines of destiny and
+ learning to live from a place of this integrated highest self.

Clients often report feeling lighter, grounded, balanced, connected, empowered, easier to breathe and move, and may have emotional release during or after the session. Each experience is unique and designed to meet you right where you are; to guide clients out of their heads so that they may dive into the depths of their heart space and intuitive knowing. This practice honors that you are your own healer and that the answers you seek are often already inside of you waiting to be uncovered, remembered, and reclaimed.

My first experience with AromaTouch Massage sparked my interest and led to another certification: the Massage Therapist measured my height before and after the massage. I gained a half an inch and slept so well that night! It was an easy certification with subtle yet powerful benefits. And after trying both the Raindrop and the AromaTouch Technique, I decided to go with AromaTouch for two reasons. The first reason being the effects were so similar and developed by the same DC with a degree in biochemistry. The second reason being I liked the scents used in AromaTouch better. With Raindrop technique I felt like I smelled like an Italian pasta sauce. Not the worst thing, but definitely not as pleasant 😅

AromaTouch Massage

This technique is comparable to the RainDrop technique, using eight different therapeutic grade essential oils and reflexive techniques on the spine and feet to relax the nerves and muscles while also giving the immune system a boost. Clients often report feeling lighter, clearer, sleeping better and in most cases posture is improved through relaxing muscles supportive to the spinal column.

Looking back I wish I had known about the benefits of massage during my pregnancy. My selfcare then was walking outside and being with nature and the trees. It calmed my nervous system for sure, being with the mother of all and having the love and support of my own mother. I realize not evry woman has the same support or the same experience.

Supporting women during a time when their body is going through so many changes, before and after birth, is something I regard as an absolute honor! I was blessed to learn so much at my first spa job, with a mentor who was also passionate about helping women and new or soon to be mothers.

Pre/Postnatal Massage:

For new or expecting mothers experiencing swelling in legs, ankles and feet, low back pain, or general aches and pains related to pregnancy. Relaxing techniques blended with precision bodywork that is safe for mom and baby!
Postnatal Massage addresses the body after giving birth and helps to restore tissue function while providing relaxation and pain management.

One of my favorite sayings is simply this, “there are many ways up the mountain”…

While I pride myself in being rooted in precision bodywork and admittedly am a bit of a geek when it comes to the biological and bimechanical sciences, I used to shy away from deep pressure techniques because in truth my upper body just isn’t built for it.

Thankfully I had a wonderful friend who now specializes in Barefoot massage and for the first time I actually enjoyed the pressure. The broad, firm, evenly distributed smoosh her feet provided changed my perspective. And I finally accepted that some folks do Need the deeper pressure massage to find relief.

Many ways up the mountain.

All my life I have been someone who flushes the toilet, turns on/off lights and picks things up with my feet. My legs are strong, flexible (and heavy 😆) and I knew I wanted to add the modern-Ashiatsu, myofascial Barefoot massage to my skillset. This Winter I will (finally) be installing Ashi bars in my office and putting Barefoot Massage/Ashiatsu back on the menu.

Ashiatsu:

The deepest deep pressure massage offered with a myofascial style that aids in healthy functional movement to meet your health goals. Great for athletes and folks with a thicker build, who prefer to feel like they have been steamrolled. Precise bodywork with broad firm pressure applied by therapists feet for deeper tissue release.
*90 minute sessions only; required to warm up the tissues and provide safe deep tissue work.

(This will be available to book online once I have my Ashi bars installed this Winter, after the holidays!)

Bowenwork is my favorite option on the Service Menu at TNW. This is the style of bodywork I prefer to receive myself.

I first learned this technique while working in PT at an orthopedic surgeons office. They sent me to learn this technique because, although it is a Deep Tissue technique it requires only 5mg of pressure to be effective (that’s the weight of a nickel). This method operates on precision and I have personally experienced relief from Sciatica, severe bruising of my tailbone, TMJ and has helped immensely with pain related to my menstrual cycle.

Bowenwork: Advanced Osteopathic Bodywork

This Advanced Osteopathic style of bodywork is deeply relaxing and works with the nervous system and myofascial reflexive points to address imbalances causing pain with movement, pain at rest, issues with Respiratory or Digestive systems, or hormonal changes. This technique can be done with clothes on or off and does not require any lotion or oil.
A traditional Bowenwork session uses small, precise moves to reflexive points along the neurofascial meridians of the body. Unlike massage, there are "wait times" in between moves that allow for the somatic systems to deeply process and recalibrate without interruption. During the wait times the electrical signals between the brain and body communicate and rebalance systems controlled by the ANS: respiratory rate, heart rate/circulatory, immune system, digestion, hormonal regulation and overall musculoskeletal tone and function.
This method is great for athletes, kids, elderly, people suffering from fibromyalgia, chronic pain in neck, back, shoulder, hip/knee, ankle and jaw, as well as headaches, migraines and scoliosis.

What does True North Wellness offer? 14+ years of experience in hands-on healing modalities and continued education.

One of my favorite systems to learn about has been the lymphatic system. I was chosen to be part of the Breast Cancer PT Rehabilitation program at a local hospital, and they sent me to an intensive Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) course to support the women suffering from Lymphedema after breast cancer surgery.

While most of my MLD clients see me to help manage their Lymphedema, I learned that this technique is also great for post surgical swelling. Whether it is after a knee surgery or a tummy-tuck. Many clients have sought me out to expedite their healing process after medical or cosmetic surgery.

The program also shared research showing this technique helped with arthritic symptoms by moving stagnant fluid around the joints and stimulating the body to produce healthy synovial fluid (like an oil change for your car, the body needs maintenance too).

Originally the fella who developed this technique (Vodder) found that it helped improve symptoms of cold and sinus issues. I have had dozens of patients corroborate this by telling me how drastically their symptoms improved after using MLD to address blocked sinuses and mild colds.

You can book MLD online with the link below ⬇️

Manual Lymph Drainage:

Medical Massage to address sluggish lymphatic system leading to blockages, swelling, or in severe cases Lymphedema. This is a great choice for pre/post surgery (cosmetic or medical), to reduce symptoms of Lymphedema, and is also proven to help with arthritic pain and swollen joints. Using gentle, rhythmic technique to stimulate the Lymphatic system and promote healthy flow of fluids back into circulation.
MLD can also be used on the face and neck to address puffiness and stagnant fluid build up, or for symptoms related to mild colds or sinus issues.

Service Menu is updated on the website and booking app! I will be sharing a series of posts to highlight all the options offered at True North Wellness!

Starting with Clinical vs Therapeutic Massage:

Clinical Massage:
Aims to address recent or chronic aches and pains with precision based techniques to recalibrate Neurofascial, Myofascial, and Neuromuscular tension patterns that may be contributing to inflammation, limited range of motion and pain with movement or at rest.

Therapeutic Massage:
Designed to relax the body and address tension patterns caused by stress. Flowing strokes to address bound up muscles and imbalanced fascial tension. Soothing touch and gentle to firm pressure to meet your needs.

Both styles of Massage offer relaxation, tension and/or pain relief and are customized with pressure and precision to address your concerns and help you feel more at ease in your body!

Clinical Massage is for working out the kinks caused by new or old injuries, repetitive movements or postures that put stress on joints, muscles and other soft tissues. Whereas Therapeutic Massage works to alleviate tension caused by the stress of daily life and how we hold that stress in our bodies.

Good news is these styles are easy to blend and a majority of people request a little bit of both!
