The Mary Lanning Healthcare Morrison Cancer Center provides comprehensive cancer care through advanced medical and radiation oncology services located in Hastings and Grand Island, Nebraska. Morrison Cancer Center offers both medical oncology and radiation therapy which allows patients the convenience to receive both services by a multidisciplinary team dedicated to you or your loved one’s care. We offer services at Hastings and Grand Island clinics for medical oncology, radiation oncology, private chemo infusion rooms, on-site CT, PET imaging, laboratory and pharmacy services. Social services to connect you with resources you may need along your journey. Genetic counseling, access to clinical trials and nurse navigation to guide you and support you through treatment. When 50-year-old Farwell resident Tracy Lukasiewicz was undergoing treatment for brain cancer, she faced many challenges. Just one of those was the toll cancer and chemotherapy treatments took on her skin and nails. Thankfully, her care team at the Morrison Cancer Center suggested the Hope & Healing program. “The best thing about the program was the information given,” Tracy said. She worked with stylist Melody Iliff in Hastings. “MCC is a wonderful institution to work with,” Tracy said. “They set you up with some great programs, offer services and have a loving and caring staff.”

Every cancer patient has a unique story and situation. At the Morrison Cancer Center, we appreciate meeting all of our patients and their families, and helping them receive personalized care. 77-year-old Clay County resident Jean Stinnette was diagnosed with cancer in July 2025. Due to treatments, her hair thinned out. Nurse Tara at MCC suggested the Hope & Healing Program could help her get a wig.

“Tara was very understanding and supportive,” Jean said. “I went to V!BE Salon and met Melody Iliff. Melody was wonderful. She first gave me a cosmetic bag containing such things as makeup brushes, blush, eyeliner, mascara and special facial soap and skin conditioner. Melody answered my questions about makeup and especially showed me how to use eyeliner.”

Jean and Melody worked together to help Jean pick a wig. After the wig came in, Melody helped fit the wig and cut it to fit Jean’s face.

“She gave me tips on how to care for my wig and how to style it,” Jean said. “She spent a lot of time with me on both appointments and I felt as if she really cared about how I felt about my wig and its fit. This service helped me feel better about my appearance. Now when I look in the mirror I see someone who looks healthy. At first I felt guilty about being upset about my hair loss. After all, I am alive and doing well. That is really more important than my hair. But Tara and Melody said it was also important that I felt good about my appearance.”

Jean said she is amazed that Hope &. Healing is a free service. “I think this is especially important for younger women who are not on Medicare and have huge medical bills,”
Jean said. “I would recommend this service for all patients who have lost their hair or have very thin hair. These are very caring people who will make you feel better about your appearance.”

Medical Oncologist Dr. M. Sitki Copur provides exceptional care to patients receiving chemotherapy and Radiation Oncologist Dr. Thomas Zusag provides excellent care for patients requiring radiation therapy. The Morrison Cancer Center also has the wonderful APRN Carlene Springer on staff.
