October marks LGBTQ+ History Month, celebrating the achievements of le***an, gay, bisexual, or transgender Icons. October also includes National Coming Out Day on October 11, a day established in 1988 to celebrate the courage and resiliency of LGBTQ+ individuals, and to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the National March on Washington for Le***an and Gay Rights in 1987.
The Welcome Project PA celebrates with all our LGBTQ+ siblings, across the wide and diverse spectrum of identity, and the partnerships and movements of LGBTQ+ communities and Allies that continue to spread love, solidarity, and affirmation.

Friends, as we close out LGBTQ +History Month, The Welcome Project PA + Love in Action UCC reflect on the state of welcome and advocacy as we continue to work with and uplift LGBTQ+ voices and communities.

We remember journalist, author, and media personality Liz Plank’s visit to our site in 2018 to film an episode of Divided States of Women, featuring Radiance Petro, Rev. Josh Blakesley, and the work and witness of Love In Action UCC. This episode is a reminder of how stories can shift perspectives and curate more belonging.

This month [and every month] let’s show up for each other. Let’s encourage each other as a community, curating more belonging for all. This is our call to action! Let’s continue Widening the Welcome!

If you want to be part of this great cause please contact us via email or donate. More than ever we need your support.

We are so pleased to welcome Ariel Virk to the Welcome Project PA’s Board of Directors.

Ariel Virk is a licensed psychotherapist, co‑owner of Welsh Therapy, and resident of Doylestown Borough. She holds a Masters in Counseling from Arcadia University and specializes in working with children, adolescents, and survivors of clinical trauma. Ariel’s clinical passion lies in supporting marginalized identities, particularly immigrant communities and helping families navigate multicultural issues and strengthening parent‑child attachment.

As a co‑owner of Welsh Therapy, Ariel has been deeply committed to building a diverse practice with culturally competent, gender‑affirming services. She is dedicated to creating safe, inclusive environments for all clients, particularly for those whose voices are often underrepresented or silenced.

Beyond her clinical work, Ariel is active in social justice and immigrant rights movements, lending her voice publicly and serving on boards to advance equitable access to mental health care. She previously served on the board of Immigrant Rights Action, and currently serves on the board of Northern Children’s Services in Philadelphia. When she’s not counseling or advocating, Ariel is often seen walking her dog through the borough, spending time with her husband, playing video games, or enjoying time with friends.

We are so excited for her expertise, knowledge and the dedication Ariel brings as we continue advancing our mission of uplifting community members, building resiliency and agency, and working towards a more welcoming world for all.

Together, we will continue widening the welcome and working towards the day when everyone can live with dignity, safety and opportunity.

Thank you for helping us Widen the Welcome!
