Licensed Massage Therapist #1599

The multiple problems I had as a result of my sports activities led me to want to learn more about how the body works and how one can recover from injuries. In my continuing education, I have focused on sports massage, myofascial release, and deep tissue massage. Recently, I have been working towards certification with Magnus Eklund in synergetic myofascial therapy. During the years that I have received massage therapy for my shoulder, I have regained complete motion of my arm, as well as prevented additional problems. I have firsthand experience and knowledge of the benefits of massage, and my goal as a therapist is to help my clients to feel better physically and go on to lead pain-free lives.

πŸ’†πŸ½β€β™‚οΈβœ¨ Therapist Tip: Protect Your Body, Protect Your Career βœ¨πŸ’†πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Look at the posture, arm position, and finger support πŸ‘€ β€” these little details make a BIG difference in how long we can keep doing this work.

⚠️ Things to remember:
❌ Don’t overuse your fingers (especially the thumbs) β€” they aren’t built for that load.
❌ Don’t drive everything through your elbow β€” you can irritate nerves quickly.
❌ Don’t roll your shoulders back and forth with your forearms β€” that’s a fast track to shoulder pain and rotator cuff problems.

βœ… Instead, keep your body aligned.
βœ… Keep the elbow slightly lower.
βœ… Let your posture and positioning do the heavy lifting.

Work smarter, not harder β€” that’s how you build a sustainable massage therapy career. πŸ’ͺ✨

🎯 Fascia Release Technique: Scapular Border
In this clip, I’m using focused finger pressure along the medial border of the scapula to gently release fascia restrictions. This area often holds deep tension and adhesions, especially in clients with shoulder pain or poor posture.

πŸ”Ή Slow and intentional movement
πŸ”Ή No lotionβ€”so we can hook and engage the fascia properly
πŸ”Ή Promotes better mobility and pain relief

If you deal with chronic shoulder tightness or want to experience the benefits of myofascial release, come see me at The Lotus Day Spa in Downtown Hattiesburg.

Our Story

Manny Abreu Licensed Massage Therapist #1599

I was born in Isabela, Puerto Rico. I have a B.S. in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras and an associates degree in Natural Science from the University of Puerto Rico in Utuado. I played basketball from age of seven through college, even having the opportunity to represent my country in tournaments in the United States. During this time, I injured my wrist multiple times. The shoulder injury eventually required surgery, physical therapy, and massage for healing.

The multiple problems I had as a result of my sports activities led me to want to learn more about how the body works and how one can recover from injuries. Therefore, I moved to Gainesville, Florida, where studied therapeutic massage and hydrotherapy at The Florida School of Massage. In my continuing education, I have focused on sport massage, myofascial therapy, and deep tissue massage. I am also a certified Synergetic Myofascial Therapist, having finished the 200 hours certification with Magnus Eklund. The work is based on the 10 series of Dr. Ida Rolf.

During the years that I have received massage therapy for my shoulder, I have regained complete motion of my arm, as well as prevented additional problems. I have firsthand experience and knowledge of the benefits of massage, and my goal as a therapist is to help my clients to feel better physically and go to lead pain-free lives.
