Bohemian Cove: Magic & Soul Center

While most people will be celebrating today with family or friends, I will be going to the shop around 12-1pm to read cards for a new client who has been busy working and couldn't find time to come during appointment or shop hours. What makes the Cove different? This: if I have a day off with nothing planned, whether it's a minor holiday or just a regular day, I will go out of my way to help a potential customer or client in need. This is where I will put my heart into this year: not wasting time seeking out romantic love connections where I keep having to glue back pieces of my heart. This lighthouse only shines for those that seek it out to heal, to grow, and to learn. Not for those who only want to use its warmth and light for their own purposes and not give of themselves the same way in return.

Here is the lesson I have learned for 2025. When you are called to do this spiritual work, when you are told you are a beacon of hope, and a lighthouse of love, no one tells you how lonely it becomes. Sure, i have friends and customers/clients and family who come around, who support me, who are there for me, but being a lighthouse is exhausting work when it comes to love, because nobody sees you and values you for YOU. Nobody steps up to be there for you when you need them to, nobody becomes the rock to hold YOU steady, because your light shines so strongly that they can't handle it, so they just walk away or they assume that you're strong enough to do it by yourself when really you're not, even though you CAN.

OR sometimes they stop seeing you because the light shines so strongly that you become invisible to them and they just walk away. And it's not because you know you don't matter, it's because you DO know you matter and you know your value and you know your worth and you know how much love you have to give, but they can't handle that because what if that makes them feel safe? and what if that makes them feel loved and secure? and they don't know what to do with that and they get scared and they run. OR they are afraid because what if they do something wrong and lose you because they mess up?

But here's the thing- when you're a lighthouse, your light needs tending to. It needs to have someone to change the bulb sometimes, it needs someone to anchor it to the shore so it doesn't tumble through stormy weather. It needs to be grounded so it CAN stay strong. It needs a keeper.

I thought I had found my lighthouse keeper. He was everything I had ever wanted. I had looked into his eyes and knew I could trust him. And in many ways, he was a great keeper. He kept me safe, filled my light up when I couldn't do it myself, grounded me. But when my light got too bright, he got scared. He pushed me away.

And I was left alone to steady myself, to ground myself, to hold myself at my darkest moments. I've been taking care of my own light for about two years now, and it is becoming harder to do. I don't know if I will ever find another lighthouse keeper who could do the jobs as well as he could, so now it falls on me to do it myself. Each time someone new enters my life, they try, but they run. They always run. Maybe there's no one out there who can hold my light. For someone to do that, they would have to first face their own darkness. And I'm not sure who can actually do that anymore.

I want to add this: I’m not writing this for pity. I’m not writing this to find someone to date me, or to ask anyone to be my lighthouse keeper. This isn’t a plea or a call for anyone to step in. It’s simply an acknowledgment of the lesson that is learned when people can’t step up, and how that feels. That’s all.

I had the pleasure and the privilege of being a celebrity contestant on HC Media Studios’ third annual Quest for the Christmas Cup, and made it to the finals with my teammate. What a fun, joyful, and genuinely special experience. I’m so grateful to have been part of it this year, and I hope it’s the first of many to come.

After having an amazing, magical Christmas week with my son and his girlfriend and the rest of my family, and friends, I had some grief yesterday afternoon due to my son and his girlfriend heading back to NY, the feeling that the celebrations were over, and really missing my dad's physical presence. So this past Saturday I had a client, a returning customer who is becoming a friend, come in. She was talking to me about grief because she has had two back-to-back deaths in her family over the past couple of weeks, and she has been really down. I was trying to cheer her up and make her feel better, and one of the things I talked to her about was how to transmute grief into love.
I told her that it’s okay to feel sad, it’s okay to miss them, but we look at missing them from an ego perspective. We miss their physical presence, we long for hugs, we long for the physicality of them—and that’s allowed, we’re allowed to feel that. But the more we stay in that space, the harder it becomes to pull ourselves out. The people we love who are on the other side don’t want us to stay stuck in sadness. And yes, that has been said time and time again—they would want this or they would want that for us. The key is that it’s actually true. People often don’t feel that it’s true because they’ve been told limiting beliefs about how they’re supposed to grieve, what they’re supposed to feel, and how long they’re supposed to hold on to that sadness.
I came up with this saying: you can take the grief you feel inside and let it weigh you down and consume you, or you can take it, twist it, release it, and transform it into unconditional love. I explained to her how to do that. A few ideas I gave her are to focus on something that makes us happy, do something that connects us to the one we love, or look at memories, photos, voicemails, or videos. By doing that, we bring them back into our lives through love and remembrance.
We allow ourselves those moments of sadness and grief, and then we focus on the love. I told her I thought this Christmas was going to be the hardest one for me because it’s the first one without my dad. But actually, I’m finding that it’s one of the best Christmases I’ve had in a long time, because I’m focusing on the joy, the magic, the giving, and the unconditional love of knowing that even though my father is gone physically, he is still surrounding me with memory, tradition, and the magic of Christmas.
