Therapeutic Recreation at Penacook Place.
Our mission is to help each resident feel understood, supported and valued each and every day. Our program meets the psychosocial needs of residents with dementia by focusing on emotional well being, connection, and identity. We individualize engagement based on resident’s life story, preferences, and abilities. Consistent routines and familiar staff provide emotional safety and reduce anxiety. Social needs are supported through group programs and one to one interactions that prevent overstimulation. When residents show signs of distress or behavioral changes, we treat those behaviors as communication and respond to the underlying unmet need.
Bonds created between residents and staff members are special. This is their home and staff members are their respectful guests.

Santa and Mrs.Claus made a special visit to Penacook today. The merry couple read their favorite story, Twas the Night Before Christmas and passed out little bags of goodies and Christmas Cards to our residents.

The spirit of Christmas can be felt throughout Penacook Place! Our team of Secret Santa’s have once again outdone themselves! Every department is staffed with employees that not only care about our residents, they love bringing joy to their faces. We have 113 presents to deliver this Christmas and we couldn’t be more appreciative of our staff and all that they do for our residents.

Our crafters were at it again! They made a cookie house village together! It’s on display in our lobby! Great job by these creative ladies!

Our holiday crafters were at it again today! They joyfully painted cinnamon ornaments created by our hairdresser Crickett. We can’t wait to hang them on the Christmas Tree! They did such a beautiful job!

Our residents are feeling the Christmas Spirit! They’re listening to Christmas carols and creating beautiful candy canes from Christmas card cut outs and holiday ribbon. I hear some are planning to give them as gifts and others are going to decorate their doors with them!
