Gout is a common and complex form of arthritis that can affect anyone. It's characterized by sudden, severe attacks of pain, swelling, redness and tenderness in one or more joints, most often in the big toe.

An attack of gout can occur suddenly, often waking you up in the middle of the night with the sensation that your big toe is on fire. The affected joint is hot, swollen and so tender that even the weight of the bedsheet on it may seem intolerable.

Gout symptoms may come and go, but there are ways to manage symptoms and prevent flares.

This type of arthritis can cause sudden, severe attacks of pain, swelling, redness and tenderness — often in the big toe.

Dr. Wiemer is not only a great podiatrist, he can now add author to his list of accomplishments. This project has been on his heart for some time. Through hardwork and perseverance he has published this book. This book shares our journey through marriage, podiatry school, special needs children and the ups and downs. It’s told from his perspective. We hope it inspires many and sends the message that we never completely fall ❤️

Happy World Down Syndrome Day! 💙💛
People with Down Syndrome have extra special needs in order to keep their feet feeling their best. Common ailments we see are:

🦶Sore, tired legs related to flat feet
🦶Hallux Abducto-Valgus (bunions)
🦶Plantar Fasciitis (pain in the arch)
🦶Anterior knee pain related to flat ‘pronated’ feet
🦶Calluses and corns
🦶Chronic ingrown toenails
🦶Thickened toenails
🦶Shoe irritation (generally from footwear not appropriately sized)
Add a podiatry visit to the list of specialists to keep you or your loved one one step ahead of their health👨🏼‍⚕️🦶
