Navigating life with preteens and teens isn’t easy, but you don’t have to do it by yourself. Starting January 8th, the ATOD Prevention Program at Child Guidance Resource Centers is having the Strengthening Families 10–14 Program, built to empower and support families every step of the way.

This isn’t just another parenting course. It’s a hands-on, engaging 7 session program that gives you practical strategies to communicate more effectively, set clear expectations, and help your kids stay on a healthy, substance-free path.

The holidays can bring joy, connection, and celebration—but they can also stir up tough emotions and stress that can affect mental health and substance misuse. Remember: support is always within reach. Let your friends and family know that confidential help is available 24/7 for mental health and substance use concerns. No one has to face this season alone.

As we head out to celebrate with friends and family, road safety matters more than ever. December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month, highlighting the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medications, or distractions. There are no quick tricks to “sober up,” so plan ahead: choose a sober driver, use rideshare or take public transit. Let’s help everyone get home safely this season.

Get informed, be prepared, and take action to prevent underage drinking and other drug use. The odds that children will use alcohol increase as they get older. Help your children make smart decisions by talking with them early about underage drinking.

We are SO grateful!!! Thanks to you, every single child and family was generously "adopted" from our Adopt-a-Family list. Every single child deserves a gift during the holiday season, and so many families struggle to make that a reality. Because of you, our CGRC families will have the gift of knowing there are people out there who care enough to make magic happen. That's a true gift.
