❄️ First Day of Winter ❄️

Winter is officially here… even though it feels like it’s been here for weeks already 🥶❄️ We’ve already seen the cold, snow, and ice today just makes it official.

As the temps drop, here are a few reminders to stay warm and safe:
• Bundle up in layers and cover exposed skin
• Keep space heaters away from anything flammable
• Check on elderly neighbors and loved ones
• Drive slow, leave extra distance, and watch for black ice
• Bring pets inside and make sure they stay warm too

We know how frustrating having the power lines down from the crash last night on route 590. It’s been just as frustrating for us also as it affects how our responders respond to calls. Many have asked why getting these poles fixed is taking so long and we don’t have any answers, that would be a question for PPL.

In the meantime this is an issue impacting many of us and all we can do is wait.

Last night, our crews, along with Central Volunteer Fire Department , conducted a walkthrough of the Woodloch Resort . A big thank you to Safety Services for taking the time to give us a tour training like this helps ensure we’re prepared and ready to respond in an emergency. 🚑🚒

Calling all Chicken BBQ fans! This year we will be selling chicken barbecue dinners at Lackawaxen Township Fire Department’s Field Day on Saturday, July 19th.

Your $15 meal includes: half chicken, baked potato, applesauce, baked beans, roll and cookie.

Meals will be able to be picked up on July 19th starting at 4pm at Station 31.

🌟 Community Engagement! 🌟

Lackawaxen EMS was proud to participate in the Wayne Memorial Family Health Centers' Unity in the Community Health & Wellness Event.

We had the opportunity to speak with many community members about Stop the Bleed and Hands-Only CPR — two simple but critical skills that can help save lives. 🚑🩺

The turnout was fantastic, the weather was perfect, and we were honored to be part of such a great event.

Thank you to Wayne Memorial for inviting us and for hosting such an important community resource! 💙

🚑 Stronger Together: Pike County AEMT Response Program 🚑

In November 2024, Pike County took a major step forward in emergency medical care with the launch of the AEMT Response Program — and the results are already saving lives.

Thanks to Lackawaxen EMS, Delaware Township EMS, and Port Jervis EMS, specially trained Advanced EMTs (AEMTs) are now responding across Pike County whenever paramedics are unavailable. These AEMTs can initiate critical advanced life support interventions — including airway management, IV access, and lifesaving medications — ensuring patients get the care they need without delay.

This countywide collaboration fills crucial gaps during paramedic shortages, especially in our rural and hard-to-reach areas. It’s about faster response times, stronger care, and a commitment to never leaving a call unanswered.

Is your community participating? If not, maybe it should be. This program is a proven model of cooperation, training, and results — and every resident deserves access to the best care possible when minutes matter.
