Part B of IDEA gives states the option of using Developmental Delay in additional to specific disability categories in order to determine eligibility for special education and related services for children between the ages of 3-9. For children over the age of 9 states must use the specific disability categories to determine eligibility.

As we come to the end of AAC month, I want to revisit a project I am very proud to have brought to my local community where I both live and work. A few years ago, I worked with the Hawley Pennsylvania Recreation Department, and the Pocono Sign Company to have this AAC sign installed at Bingham Park in Hawley Pennsylvania. This entire project was donated by all involved. The recreation department approved the project without any question as to its importance for the community and they graciously installed the sign. The sign itself was fabricated and generously donated by the Poconos Sign Company. The graphic for the sign was gifted to me by Temple University. We are capable of great things when a community comes together to help everyone.
