DID YOU KNOW...
PT can be traced back as far as 640 BC. Ancient greek physicians used massage and manual treatments to treat pain and dysfunction.
PT did officially begin during WW1, and was a female only profession. Women would use PT to rehabilitate WW1 soldiers!

Today PT is booming! Over 1.8 BILLION sessions are conducted across the globe every year.

true or false?
rest always fixes all injuries.

FALSE!
Although there is nothing wrong with rest, it sometimes makes things worse. After most orthopedic surgeries, you definitely do not want to rest. After an ankle fracture, rest is the better option while the bone heals!
In short, movement is extremely helpful. It encouraged bloodflow which promotes healing. Movement also boosts oxytocin, which overall improves mood.

patience love to ask, "why am I doing this ridiculous exercise? Is this even functional?"

Short answer. Yes it is!

Maybe your PT has you walking heel to toe like a tight rope and you're wondering why on earth you'd ever have to train for something like that. But the point is to train your muscles in all directions and for all different scenarios.

You may not be planning on walking a tight rope anytime soon but how about trying to fit between close objects in your house or maneuver around aisles in the grocery store? your ankle's knees and hips are being trained with heel to toe walking exercises, and many more, so that when you need to use any of those muscles for any situation out in real life... you are READY

"If you don't use it, you'll lose it!"

But what makes that true??
In the simplest of terms-- when you stop moving, muscles begin to become weaker, causing a decrease in the range of motion available to you.The decrease in range of motion then causes those muscles and joints to not only weaken more, but become tight and restricted. This means not only do you have weakness, but your available range of motion is also decreasing.
What does this mean for my body?
This means back and knee pain may start to arise. Difficulty with your balance, pain when driving in the car, inability to get up off the floor.. the list goes on.
The cure?? physical therapy....
Let us get you stretched out and strong again!!
The preventative?? KEEP IT MOVING! Keep moving your body-- however and whenever available to you. Take the long way to the kitchen. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk to the mailbox. It's not about how good you are at a specific activity, it's about how consistent you are in performing that activity.
Keep it moving!! And if the movement hurts... CALL ELMTREE😜🌳🌳

Do you know the smallest muscle in the human body??

Drum roll please...🥁🥁🥁

The stapedius is the smallest muscle in the human body. The stapedius is a tiny muscle inside your ears that stabilizes the stapes bone, protecting your inner ear from damage caused by loud noises!
The stapedius is about 1mm in size. It is small but mighty, considering its function!
Can you think of any other teeny tiny muscles in the body that have a huge impact on our daily function???

The body is adaptable. It rewires, it reroutes, it relearns. The mind sets the speed. If you decide you can't do it, your body will follow. And when you're ready to take the step and commit to recovery and becoming your best self, your body will also follow.
