Such a great weekend at the NW Aviation Conference & Trade Show at the Washington State Fairgrounds ✈️

Highlights included meeting the amazing people in this industry — pilots, students, Regional Flight Surgeons, vendors, and friends who make aviation such a strong and supportive community.

I had the chance to speak on “Preflighting Your Flight Physical” — helping pilots make the process less stressful, avoid common pitfalls, and walk in prepared and confident. I love getting to combine education with practical tools you can actually use.

I also stepped into the hypoxia chamber to personally assess my in-flight symptoms. I made it down to 70% oxygen before calling it.

My symptoms:
• Fast heart rate
• Foggy thought processes
• Feeling warm

It’s one thing to teach it — it’s another to feel it. Knowing your personal hypoxia signs could make all the difference at altitude.

Already looking forward to next year. 💙✈️

The office will be closed tomorrow while I’m out soaking up some aviation fun.

We’ll reopen Monday… with plenty of good stories (and probably a few new airplane photos) 😄

See you then!

The FAA Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) team will be onsite with their Portable Reduced Oxygen Training Enclosure (PROTE) Chamber, giving pilots the chance to safely experience the early symptoms of hypoxia — all while being closely monitored by experts.

🎥 Video shown was taken during my AME training in Oklahoma (2024), where we had the opportunity to experience this firsthand.

🗓 Friday, February 20, 2026
⏰ Starts at 9:00 AM PST
📍 NW Aviation Conference & Trade Show (Feb 20–22)

Puyallup, WA

⭐ Why this matters:
• Learn your personal hypoxia warning signs
• Improve recognition before flying at higher altitudes
• A valuable no-cost training opportunity for qualified pilots

✅ Eligibility Requirements:

Annual wellness visit ✔️

Getting my labs done today to prep for seeing my primary care doc.

I’m always counseling pilots/patients to stay on top of their health and be proactive… so I’m practicing what I preach 👩‍⚕️✈️

Only mistake? Forgot to hydrate… so both arms got stuck 😅💉

Reminder: drink your water before labs, friends! 💧

Flight physicals from 9–3 ✅
PPL ground school from 3–5 📚
And to cap it all off… a military aircraft stopping by KCOE for some touch-and-go’s at 6pm 🇺🇸🔥

Not a bad way to wrap up a full day at the office.

Sleep apnea doesn’t have to ground a pilot.

With proper diagnosis, treatment, and compliance, many aviators can continue flying under a Special Issuance from the FAA. CPAP data, symptom control, and follow-up matter—and they can make the difference between staying in the sky or sitting on the ramp.

Fatigue, brain fog, slowed reaction time—these aren’t just health issues, they’re flight safety issues. The good news? Sleep apnea is treatable, and pilots who take it seriously often feel better than they have in years.

Healthy sleep = safer skies. ✈️💤
