My name is Brittany Bourque. I live in Mathews, VA with my Husband and our two girls. After a devastating accident and conquering my own battle with an addiction to pain medications, I discovered a passion for helping people that were actively struggling in the same way that I have. For years now, I have worked in the field of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. I expanded my education and became credentialed in different recovery services.In my quest to help others, I was discouraged by the lack of resources offered in Mathews and the surrounding counties. I watched as our rural communities spent exorbitant amounts of money on building special drug task force teams and amping up our areas "war on drugs". However, I noticed that they placed no focus or funding on rehabilitation and/or reintegration of those individuals stuck in the revolving cycle of drug use. This is where my dream and vision began to blossom.

Fast forward to today, I now have an opportunity to bring to life what I spent so much time dreaming up and building. Paradox Health is an Outpatient Substance Abuse Clinic licensed by the DBHDS, located in Hayes, with different levels of treatment to accommodate the varying needs of patients in our area. It will consist of mental health providers, therapists, coaches, cognitive behavioral therapy, 1:1 sessions, group sessions(PHP), and more. Paradox will foster the rehabilitation of patients by helping them to uncover and treat underlying mental health disorders, find purpose, build and reestablish meaningful relationships, learn self-love and respect, and live healthy lives in recovery. It's outreach will expand and touch not only it's patients, but also the families, children, neighbors, businesses and community members that surround the patient.


It is my hope that Paradox becomes more than just a business, but also a representation of growth for the future- A place that offers understanding without judgement, and hope where little exists. My goal is to facilitate giving a hand up, not out, for those individuals in our communities that need it the most. It is my dream that Paradox Health will grow and thrive, alongside the community of Gloucester and it's surrounding areas.
