Heavenly Father, Lord of the Universe,

We thank you for the great presidents you have given this country, especially George Washington who had the vision and courage to lead our ancestors in forging a new nation against all odds and the British might and Abraham Lincoln who saved us from falling apart and preserved our constitution, while upholding the rights of the downtrodden.

Now Father, in this time of divisiveness, we ask you to raise up courageous, moral leaders to unite this country and the world in doing what is good and righteous. Help us to recognize these people and vote them into office. Help them in their service. Help them understand whose taxes they are spending and whom they are serving. Help them to be just servants of the highest order of Melchizedek. Help them to learn from their mistakes and to do what is right for everyone.

For we ask it in Your Holy name. Amen.

Great post! Thank you Jay Rarick for sharing!

Earlier this afternoon, an unexploded ordnance shell was found within the Little Round Top rehabilitation project area. The area has been cleared and adjacent roads have been temporarily closed to all visitors. These include Crawford Ave., Ayers Ave., South Sickles Ave. around Devil's Den, and South Confederate Ave.

We are following National Park Service protocols when unexploded ordnance is found. The 55th Ordnance Disposal Company EOD (explosive ordinance disposal) team from Fort Belvoir VA will remove the shell. The temporary road closures will only be lifted when the area has been declared safe.

One of our dear sisters went to London for the first time since February 2020. Laid a wreath on behalf of our tent at the Lincoln monument that was erected in July 1920. It became a focal point for the remaining London based Civil War Veterans.

A prayer from our Chaplain:

Heavenly Father,

Today we thank You for the gift of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Those of us alive on April 4, 1968 were sadly troubled and shocked when we heard he had gone to live with You. Our grief and fear was palpable, even if we did not realize or appreciate yet whom we had lost.

Father, help us to appreciate his legacy.

Help us to fill the 'bank of justice' in this country.
Help us to feel his sense of urgency.
Help us to continue 'to work with the 'faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.'

Now, in this time of great divisions, help us to dream.
Help us to sit down together at the 'table of brotherhood.'
Help us to judge by the 'content' of others' character.
Help us to be transformed into an 'oasis of freedom and justice.'

Give us the faith 'to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful
symphony of Brotherhood.' Give us the faith 'to be able to work together, to pray together, to
struggle together, to stand up for freedom together.'

Help us to sing together, "Let freedom ring."

For we ask it in Your Holy name.
