March is National Athletic Trainers Month, and we’re proud to celebrate the incredible HaysMed Athletic Trainers who keep student athletes across Western Kansas safe, healthy, and ready to perform.

Our 5 athletic trainers play a vital role in emergency response, injury prevention, recovery, and supporting long term wellness for athletes of all ages. They provide year round care to our partners and schools, including:

Student–athletes at Fort Hays State University Athletics also benefit from access to HaysMed’s Sports Medicine team when additional care is needed. Dr. Kelly Moeder and Dr. Wally Walstrom serve as clinical instructors for a team of 13 athletic trainers who work together to ensure athletes receive comprehensive, expert support from the sidelines through recovery.

HaysMed is happy to announce that the visitor restrictions previously implemented due to the increased spread of flu and RSV have now been lifted!

Effective immediately: visitors of all ages are welcome.

We want to thank everyone for their cooperation to keeping our community safe during this time. Your efforts have made a significant difference!

The HaysMed team is proud to celebrate Becky Kellerman, who graduated from our In-Patient Rehabilitation Unit after her stroke earlier this month.

Thanks to Becky’s fortitude and the support of Dr. Wanjala, Dr. Hemphill, and our spectacular rehabilitation team, she has made meaningful progress in just two weeks. Becky worked hard through daily therapy to strengthen her left arm, improve her vision, and regain her independence.

A longtime Hays resident and former HaysMed Medical Technologist, Becky is excited to continue her recovery in outpatient therapy at The Center for Health Improvement and even more excited to get home to her family, three beloved cats, karaoke nights, and a girls’ night out at the Jake Gill concert tonight! 💙

New at HaysMed: QLess Kiosk check-in is here!

We’re excited to introduce our new QLess Kiosk system at Miller Pavilion, Entrance B. Designed to make patient check-in quicker and more comfortable.

Patients visiting for inpatient services, outpatient hospital services, imaging, or billing inquiries can now check in at a kiosk and receive text updates letting them know when it’s time to register. No more standing in line- just check in, relax in the lobby, and we’ll notify you when you’re up next.

The system is secure, uses only the last four digits of your phone number, and helps reduce congestion for a smoother experience for everyone. Give it a try during your next visit! 💙
