Shared with permission from Shawna Aschenbrenner and Morgan Lang:

Morgan Lang came over a few days ago and designed a beautiful bracelet to bring awareness to mental health. She openly shared her story and the struggles living with her diagnosis’s. It takes a tremendous amount of courage and strength to talk about your personal struggles but I know her story will inspire and help someone who can relate. Be a friend. Be an encourager. Be compassionate. Be a light in the darkness. You can’t carry their cross but you can walk beside them so they are never alone.

“I am still me no matter my mental health”

I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder at 14 and bipolar at 31. When I heard that word “bipolar” I thought...yeah right and then I researched it. My heart sunk. I was literally being described in black and white. My time was now. There was hope.
Many times those dark thoughts tried to enter my brain I had to change them. But how? My decision was to talk about it. Be an advocate. I’m not ashamed. I’m strong. I have survived 100% of all of my bad days. I have a group of people(therapists included) in my life aware of my disorders, aware of my triggers, aware of my mania, and aware of my depression.....but with their help I “keep moving forward”

This bracelet is so much more than an accessory it brings awareness and encouragement for ANYONE who’s had a bad day. I know what it’s like to have to fight the war inside your head when things get tough. This year has tried my emotions even more than usual but when I’m in my dark place I think about the caterpillar and at its darkest, lowest point it decides to keep going and becomes a beautiful butterfly. I want this bracelet to be a reminder when you are at a low point...let these arrows lead you ahead and the butterfly be a symbol there is beauty to come as you do move forward.

IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING SERVICES:

Given the recent end of the stay-at-home order for the State of Kansas, Serenity Psychological Services and Consulting LLC will begin conducting face-to-face therapy appointments again effective immediately. If you have an appointment that is scheduled for telehealth you can elect to change the appointment to an in-office visit by calling our office (785) 621-4417, or maintain your appointment through telehealth. During your telehealth appointment we will discuss with you scheduling your next appointment in-office.

We will continue to offer telehealth services as an alternative to in-office visits, however, be sure to check your insurance plan to ensure that telehealth is covered when provided while connecting from your home. Many insurance plans will phase out offering coverage for in-home telehealth services in the coming weeks and months. Moving forward, if in-home telehealth services are not covered by your insurance plan, you can elect to receive telehealth services on a private pay basis.

We ask that if you feel sick or are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath prior to your appointment, please call us directly at (785) 621-4417 to reschedule your appointment and consider calling your physician.

When attending an appointment, please avoid bringing extra guests or family members to your appointment. We encourage you to arrive at your appointment start time or wait in your vehicle until your appointment time rather than wait in a common reception area. Upon arrival, we will take your temperature and we will ask you to reschedule your appointment if you have a fever.

In addition to our regular cleaning practices, we are sanitizing commonly used surfaces such as chairs, tables, pens, door handles, etc. on a consistent and regular basis throughout each day. We are also working to maintain social distancing in our office space and limit the number of people in the office based on State and Federal recommendations.

The safety of our clients and staff is of utmost priority to us. For now, we will continue to monitor ongoing state and national recommendations.

Thank you for trusting us to keep everyone’s heath and safety a priority in our decision making!
