How to Choose the Best Chiropractor for Your Needs

Are you tempted to choose a name at random when searching for a chiropractor? Although that method may be quick, it won't guarantee you'll find a chiropractor who's best-suited to treat your condition. Before you make an appointment, follow these tips:

Read Referrals

About 70,000 chiropractors practice in the U.S., according to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), which makes narrowing down your choices understandably difficult. Luckily, Google, Yelp, and other review sites offer valuable information regarding chiropractic offices.

Pay particular attention to reviews that mention your specific problem. If you're suffering from neck pain after a car accident, multiple reviews that mention successful whiplash treatment may mean that chiropractor is a good choice for you.

Consider the details if you notice any negative reviews. Complaints about the magazine or music selection in the waiting room obviously aren't as important as issues with the chiropractor's bedside manner or treatment results.

Ask your doctor or friends and family members for referrals. People you know can be good referral sources and may provide valuable information on a chiropractor's services, ease in making appointments, parking availability, and friendliness of the office staff.

If you need a little help finding a chiropractor, visit the "Find a Doctor" page on the ACA's website. Simply enter your zip code to retrieve a list of chiropractors in your area.

Take a Look at the Website's "About Us" Section

Most chiropractic websites provide information about the chiropractor's education and experience, in sections like "About Us" or "Meet the Team." Make sure a chiropractor you are considering graduated from an accredited chiropractic college and is licensed by your state's board of chiropractic examiners.

These sections may also mention particular areas of interest or special training or certifications. For example, a chiropractor may have furthered his or her education in sports medicine and passed a board exam offered by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians.

Prioritize Accessibility

Before you make an appointment, consider these questions:

Does the chiropractor offer hours that fit your schedule?
How many days per week is the office open?
Can you reach the office using public transportation, if needed?
Is the office handicap accessible?
Does the chiropractor accept your insurance?

What Types of Treatments and Services Are Offered?

Chiropractors offer a variety of services, including:

Spinal Manipulation (Adjustments) to Realign Vertebrae
Soft Tissue Therapies to Ease Muscle Tension, Knots, and Spasms
Flexion-Distraction Therapy to Relieve Pressure on Discs and Nerves in the Spine
Ultrasound Therapy to Ease Pain and Promote Healing in Deep Tissues
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) to Relieve Pain with a Gentle Electrical Current

Spinal manipulation, one of the most common treatments chiropractors use, offers effective relief of back and neck pain, according to several research studies. In 2023, researchers published a comparison of the effectiveness of spinal manipulation and conservative therapy in the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine. They concluded that chiropractic treatment seemed to be more effective than conservative care in reducing pain, increasing range of motion, and improving disability.

Are you experiencing pain due to arthritis, a sports injury, sciatica, herniated discs, or another painful condition? Check the website to ensure your chiropractor treats these issues. The chiropractor's website may include a section about the conditions treated, or you may need to call to determine if a particular chiropractor is experienced in treating your problem.

Visit the Office

Reviews, family referrals, and websites offer basic information, but there's no substitute for visiting the chiropractic office and meeting the chiropractor and staff. During your visit, pay attention to your surroundings. Is everything clean and comfortable? Does the office provide private exam and treatment rooms? Is the chiropractor willing to work with you to develop a treatment plan? Does the chiropractor clearly describe treatment options? Do you understand how much you'll pay for each visit? Are the chiropractor and staff friendly and empathetic?

Looking for a chiropractor who is responsive to your needs? We're here to help you manage your pain and improve your health. Contact our office to schedule an appointment.

Struggling with Posture Issues After an Auto Accident? Find Out How Chiropractic Care Can Help

A visit to the chiropractor is a must after an auto accident, even if you don't have significant injuries. The impact of a motor vehicle crash can disrupt your body's balance and cause posture issues. Without prompt treatment, you may develop chronic pain, stiffness, and flexibility issues due to poor posture. Fortunately, your chiropractor offers several treatments that will ease your pain and improve your posture.

What Happens to Your Posture After an Auto Accident

Strong forces act on your body when your car hits another car or collides with a wall, tree, or stationary object. According to a clinical review published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy in 2016, the forces can temporarily change the curvature of the spine immediately after impact.

These changes affect the tissues and structures of the back, neck, head, and shoulders and may damage soft tissues, like muscles and ligaments. Misalignment of the vertebrae in the spine may also occur. The vertebrae are a series of small bones that protect the spinal cord and permit easy movement of your back. Misalignments, also called "subluxations," can be painful and could cause stiffness, reduced range of motion, and poor posture.

After an auto accident, you may find it's more comfortable to change the way you walk or stand, or might notice that tilting your head reduces your neck pain. Although altering your posture may initially make you feel better, posture changes affect your body's natural balance. For example, tilting your neck may cause muscles on one side of your neck to tighten, while those on the other side become too weak. Placing more weight on one leg due to back or hip pain can also increase muscle tension and trigger pain.

Poor posture can lead to other issues, including:

Headaches
Jaw Pain
Trouble Breathing
Sluggish Circulation
Balance Problems
Sleep Issues

Poor posture could also cause problems with digestion, incontinence, or constipation, according to Harvard Health Publishing. Slouching increases pressure on the bladder and digestive system, causing inefficient functioning of these systems.

Signs of poor posture include:

Rounded Shoulders
Change in Head Position
Uneven Hips or Shoulders
Increased Curve in Neck or Lower Back
Leaning to One Side When Standing

How Your Chiropractor Treats Posture Issues After an Auto Accident

Your chiropractor will perform a thorough assessment that includes posture analysis and range of motion testing. Your visit may also include X-rays or other tests that help your chiropractor determine the extent of your injuries.

Based on your examination, your chiropractor may perform one or more of these treatments:

Spinal Manipulation. Spinal manipulation, the most well-known chiropractic treatment, realigns the vertebrae. Quick, painless pressure from the hands or a small device moves vertebrae back into place. Spinal manipulation eases pain, reduces pressure on nerves, improves mobility, and helps you maintain good posture. Manipulation also improves circulation, ensuring that healing nutrients in your blood reach injured tissues.
Soft Tissue Therapies. Massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, soft tissue mobilization, and other chiropractic treatments loosen tight tissues, break up scar tissue, ease muscle spasms, and improve circulation. Keeping tissues loose offers several benefits. Tight tissues press on nerves, triggering pain and limiting the range of motion in joints, making it difficult to maintain good posture.
Ultrasound Therapy. Ultrasound waves help deep tissues heal. The waves create a warming effect that improves blood flow and reduces pain, inflammation, and stiffness.
Exercises. During your visit, your chiropractor will teach you exercises that stretch and strengthen your muscles. Performing these exercises supports the effects of your treatment and helps you avoid posture issues.

Have you been in an auto accident recently? Chiropractic care can help you avoid lingering pain due to poor posture. Contact our office to schedule an appointment with the chiropractor.

Top Benefits of Combining Chiropractic Care and Physical Therapy

Looking for an effective solution for pain and stiffness? Combining chiropractic care with physical therapy could help you feel better faster.

How Chiropractic Care and Physical Therapy Treat Your Symptoms

Chiropractic care focuses on correctly aligning joints and vertebrae to improve joint flexibility and range of motion and relieve pressure on nerves. Physical therapy involves exercises and movements designed to enhance muscle flexibility, stability, and strength. Although these therapies use different techniques, both focus on relieving pain and stiffness.

The combination of these treatments offers several benefits:

Effective Pain Control. Spinal adjustments, a common chiropractic treatment, are extremely effective for easing pain. Chiropractors manipulate, or adjust, vertebrae in the spine and bones in joints to improve their alignment. Proper alignment relieves painful pressure on nerves and reduces stress on muscles and tissues. Physical therapy and stretching exercises continue the pain-relieving effects of chiropractic care by keeping muscles and tissues loose. Both treatments prompt the release of serotonin and endorphins, hormones that dull pain.
Drug-Free Relief. Relying on pain medication can cause issues ranging from nausea and dizziness to addiction. Combining chiropractic care with physical therapy could help you control pain and stiffness without medication or help you decrease your reliance on medication. According to a research study published in Health Services Research in 2018, participating in physical therapy before trying other treatments reduced the probability that patients would need an opioid prescription by 89%. Other studies have noted that chiropractic care also reduces the need for opioids.
Increased Range of Motion. A misaligned joint or vertebrae, or tight muscles and tissues, can reduce your range of motion. Range of motion refers to the full extent you can move a joint. For example, reduced range of motion in your shoulder may make it difficult to move your arm above your head. Correcting misalignments with chiropractic treatments ensure that joints move freely and easily. Physical therapy exercises and massage loosen tight tissues that cause joint restrictions and break up scar tissue that interferes with normal movement.
Quicker Results. Combining both treatments could mean you spend less time in pain. Chiropractic adjustments decrease joint stiffness and nerve irritation, providing quick relief of symptoms. Physical therapy continues the positive effects of chiropractic treatments by targeting tight or imbalanced muscles that could worsen pain. After chiropractic treatments, you may find it's easier to perform physical therapy exercises and stretches. The sooner you can work your muscles and tissues, the quicker you'll begin to see an improvement in your symptoms. If you try to exercise while your joints or spine are misaligned, you may irritate already-inflamed tissues and prolong your recovery.
Longer Lasting Relief. Physical therapy exercises and activities enhance chiropractic treatment results by strengthening the muscles that support and stabilize joints. If the muscles remain weak or imbalanced, you may be more likely to experience new issues with alignment even after a chiropractic adjustment. You're also less likely to injure yourself again if your spine and joints are properly aligned and your tissues are loose and flexible.

From a Volcano to a Cure: The end of chemotherapy?

In what may be the most important medical discovery of our lifetime, Turkish microbiologists have found a "universal cancer killer" hiding in the boiling, acidic waters of Mount Ararat.

The "Search and Destroy" Mechanism: Nature’s Precision: These extremophile bacteria produce enzymes that can tell the difference between a healthy cell and a cancer cell. The Weak Spot: Cancer cells have a specific "shield" (phosphatidylserine) on their surface to hide from our immune system. These volcanic enzymes use that shield as a target, punching holes in the cancer cell's membrane until it ruptures and dies. Zero Collateral Damage: Unlike chemo, which attacks everything, these enzymes leave healthy cells completely untouched. No hair loss, no organ damage—just a targeted strike.

The Incredible Results:

100% Elimination: In lab tests, these compounds wiped out samples of breast, lung, brain, and leukemia cancers within just 48 hours.

Human Success: Terminal patients in human trials have seen dramatic tumor shrinkage, with some achieving complete remission with almost no side effects.

Unstoppable: Because the treatment attacks the physical structure of the cell, even "drug-resistant" cancers can't evolve to hide from it.

The Best Part? Because these enzymes can be mass-produced through fermentation, the cost could be under $100 per treatment. We are looking at a future where a cure for cancer isn't just possible—it’s affordable and accessible to everyone. 🌍🙌

Strong, Supported, and Pain-Free: Everyday Habits for Better Back Health

Dr Hakimian, D.C. • January 5, 2026

Maintaining back health is essential for overall mobility, comfort, and quality of life. The spine supports nearly every movement we make, yet it’s often overlooked until pain appears. Everyday habits—such as how we sit, stand, and sleep—can either protect or strain the back over time. Paying attention to posture, especially during long periods of sitting or screen use, helps reduce unnecessary pressure on the spine and surrounding muscles.

Regular movement is one of the most effective ways to keep the back strong and resilient. Gentle stretching, walking, swimming, and strength training all support the muscles that stabilize the spine, particularly the core and hips. Incorporating movement throughout the day, rather than remaining sedentary for long stretches, helps maintain flexibility and improves circulation to spinal tissues. Even small changes, like standing up every hour or doing brief mobility exercises, can make a meaningful difference.

Equally important is listening to your body and practicing preventative care. Using proper lifting techniques, maintaining a healthy weight, and managing stress—which often manifests as muscle tension—can help prevent chronic back issues. Rest and recovery also play a role; quality sleep on a supportive mattress allows the spine to realign and muscles to repair. By combining mindful habits, regular movement, and proactive care, maintaining back health becomes a sustainable part of everyday wellness rather than a reactive fix.

The Benefits of Combining Chiropractic Care and Stretching

Is stretching part of your daily routine? If you receive chiropractic treatments, stretching could enhance the effectiveness of your treatment, increase your flexibility, and reduce your pain. The combination offers many benefits, including these important advantages:

Longer-Lasting Treatment Effects

Stretching could extend the positive effects of your chiropractic treatment. Spinal adjustments correct misalignments, or subluxations, in the vertebrae in your spine.

Misaligned vertebrae increase tension on back and neck muscles. Spinal manipulation treatments not only move your vertebrae back into their normal positions but also ease pressure on tight muscles, helping them relax.

Although your muscles may initially be looser after a visit to the chiropractor, stress or poor posture can cause them to tighten again. Tight muscles can pull your vertebrae out of alignment, causing a new subluxation. Regular stretching keeps muscles loose and flexible and prevents new subluxations.

Better Flexibility

Flexible joints and muscles are necessary for bending, reaching, turning your head at a stop sign, and even tying your shoes. Muscle strains and sprains due to flexibility issues can happen whether your play sports or reach deep inside the dishwasher to retrieve a dropped spoon.

Chiropractic treatments, like adjustments and massage therapy, improve range of motion and flexibility. Unfortunately, your daily activities can decrease flexibility and diminish your treatment gains. If your job involves sitting, muscles in your legs, neck, shoulders, and back may feel a little tight at the end of the day. Luckily, following a daily stretching routine will keep muscles and tissues flexible between treatments.

Less Pain

Treatments ease pain by realigning vertebrae and joints, relaxing tight muscles and tissues, and easing painful pressure on nerves. During your visit to the chiropractic office, your chiropractor may recommend stretches that improve flexibility while reducing pain.

If neck pain is a problem, the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association recommends stretching your neck muscles with head nods. Perform this stretch by lowering your chin toward your chest, then slowly raising your chin toward the ceiling.

Stretching offers proven pain-relief results. According to review published in the European Journal of Applied Physiology in 2025, stretching can ease pain by improving range of motion and decreasing muscle stiffness. The review noted that reducing muscle stiffness could also reduce pressure on nerves.

Improved Posture

Chiropractic treatments restore proper alignment to your spine, making it easier to maintain good posture. Daily stretches loosen and strengthen the muscles that support your bones and may prevent new posture issues. Strong muscles also help you avoid injuries that can occur due to posture-related muscle imbalances.

Reduced Stress

Tight, painful muscles in the neck, shoulders, and upper back are an uncomfortable reminder of a stressful day. Chiropractic treatments relax muscles and tissues and prompt your body to release endorphins and serotonin. The hormones ease pain, calm your mind, and improve your mood. Stretching also increases production of endorphins and can help you continue to enjoy the sense of calm you felt when you left the chiropractor's office.

If you don't stretch regularly, your muscles and tissues could tighten due to stress even if you recently visited the chiropractor. Stretching offers a simple way to maintain the stress-busting benefits of chiropractic treatment.

Increase Blood Flow

Your blood contains oxygen and nutrients that nourish your body and help it repair itself. Chiropractic treatments improve circulation, which may help reduce inflammation and improve nerve function. Stretching also improves circulation and can help you maximize the effects of your treatments.

Need to make an appointment with the chiropractor? During your visit, we'll show you helpful stretches that support your treatments. Contact our office to schedule your appointment.

Chiropractic Care for Headache Relief

Every day, more than 15% of people worldwide experience some type of headache, according to an analysis published in The Journal of Headache Pain in 2022. Some suffer from tension headaches after a stressful day at work, while others endure the pain of migraines or sinus headaches. If headaches frequently keep you from making the most of your day, chiropractic treatment can ease your pain.

The Connection Between the Spine and Headaches

Vertebrae in your neck and back form your spinal column. These small bones encase the spinal cord and are essential for back and neck flexibility and movement. Misalignments, or subluxations, of the vertebrae can trigger or worsen headaches. Subluxations press on tissues and nerves, causing or worsening muscle tension, irritation, and pain. Misalignments may also decrease blood flow to the head.

How Chiropractic Treatment Relieves Headache Pain

Chiropractic treatments correct subluxations, relieve pressure on nerves and blood vessels, reduce inflammation, and decrease muscle tension.

Chiropractors use several therapies to treat headache pain, including:

Spinal Manipulation. Your chiropractor may recommend spinal manipulation, or an adjustment, if you suffer from frequent headaches. During this treatment, your doctor realigns the vertebrae in your spine with quick, hands-on pressure or a handheld activator.
Soft Tissue Treatments. Massage and soft tissue mobilization loosen tight muscles and tissues in the head, neck, shoulders, and upper back.
Trigger Point Therapy. A knot in your neck, head, shoulder, or upper back muscles could be the reason your headaches won't go away. Pain isn't always felt at the source. For example, a knot in your upper back could cause pain that extends to your neck or head. Applying pressure to tight muscle fibers loosens the knots, relieving headache pain.
Exercise. Your chiropractor will teach you exercises that stretch and strengthen your neck, back, and shoulder muscles.

What Kind of Headaches Do Chiropractors Treat?

Chiropractors treat many kinds of headaches, including:

Tension. Tension headaches, the most common type of headache, can be caused by stress, poor posture, or tight muscles. The American Chiropractic Association notes that muscle tension in the neck is associated with the majority of primary headaches (tension, migraine, and cluster headaches). Also called "hatband" headaches, tension headaches cause pain and pressure in the forehead, temples, and back of the head.
Cervicogenic. Cervicogenic headaches start in the neck, but trigger pain in the temples, head, or behind the eyes. These headaches may occur due to poor posture, whiplash, or joint issues in the spine. Patients with cervicogenic headaches who received spinal manipulation therapy had fewer headaches after treatment, according to a research study published in BMC Research Notes in 2017
Sinus. Inflamed sinuses cause congestion, which may lead to pressure and pain in and around the cheeks, forehead, neck, eyes and base of the skull. Chiropractic treatments relieve neck pain, ease pressure, and may even help the sinuses drain.
Migraines. Migraine headaches cause intense pain that may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, dizziness, stiff neck, and sensitivity to light, sounds, and odors. In a case series published in Global Advances in Medicine and Health in 2019, researchers noted that spinal manipulation and soft tissue therapy decreased migraine frequency and reduced migraine and neck pain. They attributed the improvements in migraine symptoms to the combination of neurological and chiropractic care the patients received.
Cluster. Cluster headaches affect one side of the head, causing severe pain around the eye. The headaches occur in groups, or clusters, and may last days or weeks. Spinal manipulation eases muscle tension caused by cluster headaches and could reduce pain.
Post Concussion. Chiropractic treatment also helps post-concussion headaches. Treatments relax tight muscles and correct subluxations that can occur as a result of falls, accidents, and blows to the head. In a case series published in the Journal of Contemporary Chiropractic in 2019, chiropractors noted the effectiveness of craniocervical junction adjustments in relieving concussion symptoms. The base of the skull meets the neck at the craniocervical junction. Concussion patients who received spinal manipulation in this area reported fewer headaches and saw improvements in neck pain, dizziness and concentration.
