Sakakawea Medical Center now offers Total Body Composition DEXA Scans — the most accurate way to measure body fat, lean tissue, and bone mass.

Using a very low dose of radiation, the DEXA scan gives you a comprehensive snapshot of your metabolic health — far beyond what a number on the scale can show. It measures fat, lean tissue, and bone throughout the body and identifies the difference between subcutaneous (essential) fat and visceral (dangerous-to-your-health) fat. This detailed information can help you better define your nutrition strategy, monitor fat loss (not just weight loss), and track changes over time. Body composition is a key factor in understanding your overall health and can help identify risks for a variety of diseases.

Get to know Kayleen, Athletic Trainer at SMC! Kayleen has been part of the team for just over a year and provides athletic training services to both the Beulah and Hazen School Districts. 🏐🏀🏈

In her free time, she enjoys golfing with friends, playing pickleball, going to the gym, or relaxing at the lake. One of her favorite adventures was a cruise to Key West and the Bahamas, where she even got to swim with the pigs! 🐖🌴Fun fact: her favorite restaurant is Raising Cane’s.

When asked what she loves about her job, Kayleen said, "I love getting to work with all the high school kids, since there is never a dull moment. I also have some of the best coworkers."

SMC and CCCHC are teaming up to help fill the shelves at our local food pantries! Donations will be accepted through Monday, November 24, in the SMC Galleria and at the CCCHC Beulah Clinic. All donations will go to local food pantries to support families in need.

🛒 Items especially needed:
Food: peanut butter & jelly, cereal, tuna, tomato sauce, pasta, canned fruits & vegetables, canned soups
Personal items: toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, laundry soap, shampoo & conditioner
