I had a lady come by the office this morning. She has come by several times since we opened and initially I thought she may have been sent by a competitor, but as time has gone on and we visit more, I came to the conclusion that she had genuine questions and really did not always like the answers. She is not a lady of faith and has no current plans to become one (we have had that discussion too)!!

She has recently really been questioning me about funerals and what is the purpose of the funeral home in todays society. Today was not much different...she asked me a question that I have answered many times over the years, but today I showed her something in black and white and she seemed to get it...I think!

The following is from a document that I have had in my "resource book" for many years. Just a few simple statements that explain a funeral...and it does not matter the disposition, burial or cremation.
Those are just alternate dispositions.

Should YOU have any questions about any type of services, feel free to stop by and ask. The water is always hot for a cup of coffee or hot chocolate! AND we still have a few 2021 calendars left if you need one!

THE FUNERAL

Helps confirm the reality and finality of death.

Is a vehicle for the community to pay its respects.

Encourages the affirmation of religious faith.

Is a celebration of a life that has been lived
as well as a sociological statement that a death has occurred.

As we come upon the holiday season, we understand that for many, this time of year is difficult for many reasons!

With this in mind, Laurel Funeral Home will be giving away 8 turkeys for this Thanksgiving holiday! The turkeys range in size from 17 to 20 pounds! In order to receive a turkey we ask that you like and share this from the Laurel Funeral Home Page. We will randomly draw names from the eligible submissions. We will choose the names on Friday, November 22 and contact the winners over the weekend. Once notified, the turkeys will be available Monday afternoon, November 25th at the funeral home office, 665 Fifth Street, Healdton (these turkeys will begin to refrigerator thaw on Friday) Again, all you need to do is like and share this post! I have been asked many times as to why we honor our veterans...to me, coming from a family of veterans it’s obvious. To others, to put it simply: What is a Veteran? A “veteran” - whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America,” for an amount of “up to, and including their life.”
