Tommy Lane Endlsey

Tommy Lane Endsley, 84, of Calvert, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Services will take place Saturday, January 17, 2026, and consist of a small graveside service with close family. If you are interested in attending, please contact one of his daughters for details. Tommy will be buried alongside his wife, Elizabeth Endsley, and daughter, Melissa Jane Endsley, at Sunnyside Cemetery in Calvert, Texas.

Tommy was born October 5, 1941, to Bobby Endsley and Rachel (Kunze-Endsley) Howell in Waco, Texas. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Endsley, October 31, 1958, and bore three daughters and one son. From a young age, (legend says younger than the legal age, about 16), Tommy, ‘Magoo’, operated an 18-wheeler to haul everything from milk, cattle, and petroleum products, to grain, corn, peanuts and various other products across the country. After moving to Hearne, Texas with his wife and children in the 60’s, he eventually settled in to work at Coastal Transport in Hearne, Texas. In his later years, he was the owner/operator of Endsley Trucking, employing two other drivers, keeping 3 trucks on the road mostly hauling cattle or grain and corn in the local area. To most of his children and grandchildren, he was known simply as Pop. Pop could usually be found sitting on his front porch with a cold beer waiting for his ‘Lizzy Poo’ to finish dinner or in his recliner watching his Westerns when he wasn’t in his truck on the road. He was known to defy the laws of physics eating a good steak and rarely passed on the opportunity to share a cold beer with friends or family. It was always a treat for his grandchildren to ride with their Pop in his big truck, and they loved watching his truck come and go from his home in Calvert, Texas.

He was welcomed into God’s embrace by his loving wife, Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Endsley, parents, Bobby Endsley, Rachel Howell and step father Joseph Howell, his daughter, Melissa Jane, his siblings and their spouses, Linda Endsley, Francis and Dale ‘PeeWee’ Puryear, Alice and Clyde ‘Bubba’ ‘HighRoller’ Kilgore, Jan and Danny ‘HiHo’ Conner, Ronnie ‘Roach’ Endsley, and Bobby ‘Moondoggie’ Endsley. He is survived by his sister in law Jenitta Endsley of Arkansas; daughter, Donna Wade of Willis, Texas, daughter and son in law, Rhonda and Mark Russell of Gause, Texas, and son, Scott Endsley of Calvert, Texas; grandchildren Melissa Pruitt, Dustin Endsley, Precious ‘Peppy’ Wade, Terry and Cherrie Endsley, Kymberli and Brandon Blanco, and Mark, Jr and Hunter Russell; as well as 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a great legacy of family and friends, especially in the trucking community.

Magoo will be taking his last ride in an 18-wheeler to his final resting place at Sunnyside Cemetery with one of his beloved nephews, Jamie ‘Hotrod’ Conner, and his son in law, Mark ‘Stealth’ Russell. The family extends their gratitude for the love and support during this difficult time, and requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a church of your choice, or his granddaughter’s racing fund.

David Allen Dyess

David Allen Dyess, age 62, entered the arms of the Lord on January 4, 2026.

He was born on November 16, 1963, to Cumby and Elsie Dyess and grew up in Houston, Texas and later moved to Caldwell, Texas in 1981.

David loved to fish in Galveston and enjoyed being in nature. He would fish off the pier and beg to stay longer because he was “fixin’ to catch a big one” and he even won a fishing tournament there. He could hardly wait for Sundays so he could watch the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys, even when he was in the hospital, he still wanted to know the scores of the games. He loved his family and loved coming back to Huffman/Crosby to visit with his sister and her family. He was a real family man.

His favorite song was "I'll Fly Away." When he was a young boy, in his back yard, he would get a step stool and would be "leading the singing" like he was at church. Sometimes it would be his cousins and family other times he would be alone, but he was still worshiping the Lord.

He was a devout Christian and loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Caldwell, Texas. He was baptized in that very church by his Uncle Joe, a memory his family holds dearly in their hearts.

His mother describes him as loving. He worried about her all the time, and even though he was sick, his mom was still his biggest concern.

He is survived by his mother, Elsie, his sister, Brenda and her husband Ken and his brother, Donnie. He loved numerous aunts and uncles dearly and many nephews, cousins, neighbors and church family.

He is preceded in death by, his father, Cumby M. Dyess Jr., his son, Jason Allen Dyess, his wife Dorothy Dyess and his grandparents.

Lance Douglas Anderson

Lance Douglas Anderson, 63, passed away at home in Carlos in the devoted care of his wife, Tammye, on Monday, December 29, 2025, after a brief but fierce battle with glioblastoma.

Lance was born in Hearne, Texas, on June 7, 1962, to James Edison (Eddie) and Jane Hairston Anderson. Lance was the third child born to the family following older siblings Ray and Jan and was privileged to grow up in the Rose Marie Addition of Hearne during a time when bicycles were transportation and streetlights were curfew. Jane told anyone who was still long enough that Lance was her easiest child to raise. All Lance needed to be happy was a toy car, dirt pile or dog, screwdriver, hammer and pliers and something to tinker with. Lance had a blessed childhood full of love, lots of family, pets, Hot Wheels, a dirt pile by the driveway, and the best bunch of neighborhood friends God placed on earth.

Lance attended Hearne High School, Class of 1981, and began self-employment as a teenager in school operating a Backhoe and Earth Moving business. Also known as an accomplished mechanic, Lance installed his first motor in a 1968 Ford truck (later known as ‘Moses’) at the tender age of 9. He sincerely loved to build, repair and tinker, especially when doing so served to help someone else. Lance served the citizens of Hearne as a volunteer firefighter for many years and was proud of his service.

Lance married the love of his life, Tammye Layne Gonce, on April 7, 2001, and was just shy of their 25th wedding anniversary at his passing. Lance and Tammye had big plans, loved to travel together, visit friends and family, and looked so forward to the golden years. Lance and Tammy loved Nashville, Alabama countryside, Caribbean cruising, and even took a Duck Commander Cruise. They lived on country property shared with Tammye’s parents and truly took care of each other. Lance loved to get a rise out of Charlotte, most recently and affectionately known as “the Blind Buzzard,” and to run much needed interference for Fred, whenever possible.

An avid outdoorsman, Lance really loved to hunt – deer, dove, quail, turkey – you name it. He grew up exposed to hunting with his dad, uncles, brother and cousins. It wasn’t a holiday if the house wasn’t full of hunters, pallets on the floor, and stories. Lance was a storyteller himself and loved to play pranks on friends to create those stories. Lance possessed the beautiful ability to laugh at himself as well, and those debacles were some of his favorite tales. Oh, how I wished he could tell you his scuba story.

At the time of his death, Lance had been employed as a heavy equipment fleet mechanic for the City of Bryan for 16 years. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and co-workers and grieved not being able to work those last few months. The family thanks the City of Bryan, Bobby Walker and crew, for their commitment to and support of Lance during his illness.

Lance is survived by his wife, Tammye, of Carlos; brother Ray and Candy Anderson (Franklin); sister Jan Anderson Roe (Wheelock); in-laws Fred and Charlotte Gonce (Carlos); brother-in-law Brad and Rachel Gonce (Centerville); nephews Daniel and Kim Anderson and Matthew and Krista Anderson (Franklin), Jevin and Gerhig “G” Gonce (Centerville); niece Callie Roe (Bryan), and the most entertaining and talented great nephews and nieces – Walker, Harlie, Everly, RJ, Zoey and Brooks.

We were blessed to have shared life with Lance and thank God for sharing him with us. He was the most special human being, and if you knew him, you knew that. Special acknowledgement of devoted life-long friends Steve Schlottman and Bobby Trapp – you are family too. Special thanks to Cheri and Chad Biddle for their invaluable and faithful support.

The family requests that donations be made to the Hearne Volunteer Fire Department or Urgent Animals of Hearne.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne, with visitation on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., and a Celebration of Life at the First Baptist Church of Hearne, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Graveside will follow at Norwood Cemetery.

Tommy Lee McCarty

On July 26, 1936, in Beaumont, Texas, the world welcomed Tommy Lee McCarty — a man whose kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family would touch countless hearts throughout his 89 years. On December 11, 2025, Tommy peacefully went home to the Lord, surrounded by his beloved wife and family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and devotion that will continue to echo through the generations.

Born to Lillian McCarty and Glenn Leonard McCarty, Tommy grew up with values that shaped the man he became integrity, hard work, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple blessings.

Tommy was happiest outdoors. Whether casting a line across still waters, quietly watching for deer at daybreak, or tending to his plants with his natural green thumb, he found joy in nature’s gentle rhythms. Holidays were especially dear to him — moments filled with family laughter, shared meals, and the magic of simply being together.

Those who knew Tommy will forever remember his humor. A true jokester, he had a gift for lifting spirits, breaking tension, and brightening even the hardest days with his quick wit and playful grin. In his younger years, he cared deeply for his animals, and throughout his life he carried a spirit of adventure — none greater than the miles he traveled riding motorcycles beside the love of his life, Sandra McCarty.

Tommy was a hardworking man to his core. He dedicated many years to the oil field before moving into tree work, where his determination, strength, and steady work ethic spoke louder than any words. He took pride in every task and earned the respect of all who worked beside him.

Above all else, Tommy’s greatest joy was his family and sharing the gospel of Jesus. He loved telling everyone he could about His Jesus and the love Jesus had for His children.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra McCarty; his children, Michael McCarty (wife, Becky McCarty), Tonya Baker, and Crystal McCarty; his loving grandchildren: Blake Baker, Anna Moreno, Brianca Moreno, Justin McCarty, Tiffany McCarty, Kayden Michael McCarty and Brittany McCartney; and nine great-grandchildren, who brought even more joy to his life.

He is also survived by his brother, Ruffin McCarty, and his sisters, Barbara Tull and Joann Walker, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with many extended family members who loved him deeply.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Faye McCarty, Betty Perthuis and Joyce Klein; and his brother CeCe McCarty.

Tommy’s life was a testament to love, family, and resilience. His laughter, his stories, his strength, and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

The Family of Tommy McCarty will be celebrating his long life lived on March 7th @ 12:30pm
