Acupuncture is a medical system that has been used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness for over twenty-three centuries. For thousands of years Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has acknowledged that there is a vital life force that flows through all things, which is called “Qi” (also referred to as energy). When the balance of Qi (energy) is disturbed this is due to a wide variety of issues which results in pain or illness. So if the “rivers” flow is unbalanced, think of a river having a dam and the water cannot flow smoothly, the water gets backed up and tries to overflow. This is what causes the pain or illness to result. By the insertion of the acupuncture needles, the dam will be opened and the water can flow smoothly again. Acupuncture helps to correct the balance of the flow of Qi. This stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Each treatment is personalized to each individual.
