Debra Goeking was a bold presence who graced the halls of Blue Valley Lutheran Homes for forty-three years — a colleague, mentor, and friend whose dedication touched countless lives.

Every resident who passed through our doors felt Deb's warmth of genuine care. Every staff member who worked alongside her learned the meaning of patience, empathy, and commitment. Deb's laughter brightened long shifts, her wisdom guided new generations, and her heart reminded everyone why this work matters.

Forty-three years is more than a career — it is a lifetime of service, love, and humanity. The legacy she leaves behind is woven into every corner of this facility: in the comfort of a resident’s smile, in the teamwork of the staff, and in the spirit of compassion that continues to guide us.

Though this beloved colleague is no longer with us, her presence will forever be felt. Deb's dedication has shaped this place into more than a workplace — it is a family, built on care and kindness.

Honoring Deb's request, Blue Valley Lutheran Homes will follow through with hosting Deb's Benefit Soup and Sandwich supper being held on February 25, 2026, from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at BVLH. The bake sale portion has been cancelled. We will use this opportunity to celebrate Deb's life and remember the good times. Per Deb's final wishes all proceeds generated from this event will be donated to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron Nebraska.

Community Benefit for a Beloved Friend and Colleague

Please join in supporting a cherished member of our Blue Valley Lutheran Homes staff, Debra Goeking, who has been part of our team for many years and is now courageously battling cancer.

A Benefit Event will be held on Wednesday, February 25th from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at Blue Valley Lutheran Homes. All proceeds will go toward helping Deb with medical expenses and ongoing care.

There will be soup, sandwiches, dessert, along with a bake sale, and plenty of opportunities to show love and support. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.

Let’s come together to lift up someone who has given so much to others.

Blue Valley Lutheran Homes would like to send a thank you to all who came to our rescue Sunday when the sprinkler system at Courtyard Terrace Assisted unexpectedly broke, the quick response, teamwork, and dedication shown by everyone made all the difference. Each person who stepped in to help ensured the safety, comfort, and well-being of our residents during a stressful situation.

A heartfelt thank you to all who assisted—whether by managing the cleanup, coordinating with maintenance, communicating with residents and families, or providing extra care and reassurance. Your professionalism and compassion turned a challenging moment into a demonstration of true teamwork and commitment.

Your efforts reflect the spirit of our community and the care that defines everything we do. Thank you for going above and beyond to keep our residents safe and supported.
