Good morning, friends! We’ve had such an influx of new followers lately (so exciting!), and I’ve been getting a few questions about whether Traditional Yoga or Chair Yoga is the best fit. To help clarify, I wanted to reshare this post.
The biggest thing to consider is how comfortable you are getting up and down from the ground. My traditional class includes students ranging from their 20s to their 70s, so there’s truly a wide variety! You’re always welcome to try either option—and you can switch back and forth anytime. If you’re feeling a bit stiffer or less steady on a particular day, Chair Yoga is a great alternative to Traditional.
Here are a few more points to consider. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. As always, both classes are beginner-friendly.
1. Is Chair Yoga done exclusively in a chair?
Not exclusively. Chair Yoga includes both seated and standing poses. The chair is used as a supportive prop, especially during standing movements that focus on balance. It offers added stability and confidence for those who prefer or need something to hold onto during practice.
2. Will Chair Yoga make me stronger?
Yes! While Chair Yoga emphasizes flexibility and balance, it also includes several strengthening exercises. You'll engage and build muscle in a gentle yet effective way, making it a well-rounded practice for overall wellness.
3. Can Chair Yoga be challenging?
Yes! Just like traditional yoga, Chair Yoga offers a range of modifications that can make the practice as gentle or as challenging as you need. It can be easily adapted to suit your fitness level, allowing you to progress at your own pace.
