What does LED light therapy actually do?

Fun fact: LED light therapy was originally studied by NASA when they were researching ways to grow plants in space using red LED lights. During that research, scientists noticed something interesting the same light appeared to help human cells heal faster.

That led to more studies, and researchers discovered that certain wavelengths of light can actually stimulate the mitochondria in our cells (think of them as the tiny power plants that create energy for the cell).

When those cells get more energy, they can function better.
