Medicaid access to audiology and speech-language pathology services is already under strain—and it could get worse. Please follow the link in the comments to tell your Representatives how further cuts will hurt Montanans!

In July 2025, Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which cut Medicaid funding and added new barriers to care. These changes are already affecting providers and patients:

States like Colorado and North Carolina have reduced provider payments.

Idaho has cut reimbursement rates and added new administrative barriers.

Providers across the country are having more difficulty participating in Medicaid.

Your voice matters. Lawmakers need to hear directly from providers about how these policies are affecting care in their communities.

Now Congress is considering additional Medicaid cuts through budget reconciliation. Further reductions or new eligibility restrictions put access to care at even greater risk—especially for children, older adults, and individuals with disabilities who rely on Medicaid for essential services.

Members: Check your emails! CPT code 92507 is undergoing a valuation review. This does not mean it will definitely change, and any changes would not take effect until January 2027. However, it is in all of our best interests as SLPs to become educated on this issue and get involved in sharing our expertise. MSHA Board members Michael Crews (President), Jenni Kingan and Kelsey Storm (STARS/STAMPS representatives) have created a document to help inform SLPs of proposed changes. Members received the PDF in their email. The AMA comment period for these changes is open NOW (March 6-31). Keep an eye out for updates and more information about how you can (and should) comment. Information also available at our website.

Attention Montana SLPs:
Potential changes to CPT 92507 are under consideration through the American Medical Association CPT process. These types of coding decisions can influence clinical workflow, documentation, and reimbursement across all practice settings.

There are opportunities for clinicians to submit written comments between March 6-31st and provide oral feedback at the meetings April 30-May 2nd during this process.

We encourage Montana clinicians to review the issue and consider participating. MSHA will soon provide detailed instructions and resources on our website explaining how to get involved.
More information coming soon!
