Gregory Allan Parker, Sr. 53, of Hemingway, South Carolina, passed away on February 9, 2026, in Hemingway. A son of Tracy Allen Parker and the late Louetta Jean Turner, Greg was born on August 31, 1972, in Florence, South Carolina. He spent his life rooted in the communities of the P*e Dee region where he will be remembered by those who knew him for his skilled hands, his competitive spirit at the pool table, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved.

A graduate of Johnsonville High School, Greg went on to complete vocational school classes where he honed his skills in electrical work. His dedication to his craft led him to a career as an electrician with Ruiz Foods in Florence, South Carolina. Known for his talent and precision, Gregory was especially gifted in electronics and enjoyed working with his hands—whether it was wiring a system or tinkering under the hood of a car.

Gregory was an avid pool player and could often be found at Yank's, where he participated in numerous tournaments. His love for the game was matched only by the camaraderie he shared with fellow players. Whether competing or simply enjoying a casual game, Gregory brought passion and focus to every match.

Above all else, Gregory cherished his family and enjoyed every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.

Greg is survived by his children: Gregory Parker, Jr., Matthew (Ornela) Parker, Tiffany (Nigel) Martin, and Alexis Parker; his grandchildren: Jacelynn, Caden, Skylar, Lakelynn, Nickolas, Bailey, and Gabriel; his father, Tracy (Chris) Parker; a grandmother Linda "Nanny" Hughes; siblings: Talmadge (Angel) Turner, Tina (Kevin) Capazzi, Jenny (Steve) Powell; aunts: Michelle Powell, Mavis (Bill) Riley, Judy Hodge, and Shirley Baxley; and uncles: Bruce (Linda) Parker, Johnny Parker, Danny (Ramona) Parker, and Andy (Vernessa) Parker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

Greg was preceded in death by his mother Louetta Jean Thompson Turner; paternal grandparents Mack and Lillie Belle Parker; maternal grandfather Johnny Roberts; and aunt Wanda Thompson Poston.

Bobbie Jane Baxley, age 91, widow of Edmond R. Baxley, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026.

Born on July 19, 1934, in Johnsonville, the daughter of the late Otwell Delwood and Iona Humphries Altman, Bobbie Jane lived a life rooted in family, faith, and community. She was a devoted member of the Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 40 years, where her presence and dedication were deeply valued.

Bobbie Jane was a woman of entrepreneurial spirit and style. She owned and operated a ladies' clothing boutique, where she combined her keen eye for fashion with a warm and welcoming demeanor that made her shop a cherished part of the community.

Family was at the heart of Bobbie Jane’s life. She found great joy in cooking for her loved ones and spending time with them whenever possible. Her home was often filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals and the laughter of multiple generations gathered together. She also enjoyed working in her yard, taking pride in maintaining a beautiful outdoor space that reflected her care and attention to detail.

Bobbie Jane cherished outings with friends—whether shopping or dining out—and these moments brought her much happiness throughout the years.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons: Edmond Russell Baxley, Jr. (Julie) of Beaufort, SC; and Don Barry Baxley (Samra) of Johnsonville, SC. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Edmond Russell Baxley III (Stephanie), Heath Hunter Baxley (Olga), all of Beaufort; and Don Barry Baxley Jr. (Carlie) of Johnsonville. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Valerie Baxley, Mila Baxley, Austin Baxley, Allison Baxley of Beaufort; Liza Baxley, Rose Baxley, and Britton Baxley of Johnsonville. Bobbie Jane is also survived by her brothers Warren Altman (Rounette) of Summerville and Mike Altman (Ann) of Hemingway.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Edmond R. Baxley and her brothers O.D. Altman, Vernott Altman, and Carol Altman.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, February 11, 2026 in the Johnsonville Pentocostal Holiness Church, 330 N. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the Church Sanctuary.

Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway will be in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery, 846 S. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555 immediately following the service. The family will be going to the Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church Family Life Center for a time of fellowship following the committal.

Robert Earl “Smokie” Avant, 49, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at his home in Johnsonville, South Carolina.

Born on September 19, 1976, in Florence, SC, he was the son of Mollie Mae Avant Richardson and the late Earl Gwen Avant.

Known affectionately as “Smokie,” He worked as a supervisor at Palmetto Paper Tube, where his dedication and leadership left a lasting impression on colleagues and coworkers alike.

Robert had a vibrant personality that shone through in every aspect of his life. A natural prankster with a quick wit and infectious laugh, he had an uncanny ability to lift spirits and bring smiles to those around him. His love for cooking was matched only by his passion for fishing, gaming, paintball, and playing pool—activities he enjoyed and often shared with others.

Above all else, Robert loved his family deeply. He is survived by his devoted mother, Mollie Mae Avant Richardson; his beloved fiancée, Joni Abrams; and his cherished sisters: Tammy Marlow (Trent), Hope Willis, and Dawn Coleman (Mitchell). He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Elaine Owens Todd and numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly for his warmth, humor, and unwavering support.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Earl Gwen Avant and his brother-in-law James Willis.

Janet Stone Tanner, 81, of Johnsonville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026.

Born on April 3, 1944, in Hemingway, South Carolina, Janet was the daughter of the late Irby and Harriett Newell Stone. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family and carried that spirit of devotion and care throughout her life.

Janet was a woman of deep faith who dedicated over 50 years to serving the Lord. As a devoted member of Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church, her unwavering commitment to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life. Her church community held a special place in her heart, and she found great joy in worship and fellowship.

She shared a long and loving marriage with her husband, Kerry Tanner. Together they built a strong family foundation rooted in love and faith. Janet is lovingly remembered by her sons, Joey (Gaye Anne) Tanner and Shannon (Gina) Tanner; her grandson, Drew Tanner; and great-grandchildren Ryker Tanner and Stetson Bittle. Her nurturing spirit extended to many others as well—she was a cherished sister to Virginia (Billy Joe) Crocker, Glenda (Wayne) Ridgeway, Vickie McKenzie, Teresa (Earl) Baxley, and Buddy (Bonnie) Stone. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Susan Stone and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Ray Stone and Jerry Stone.

In addition to her spiritual devotion and love for family, Janet found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for gardening, raising chickens, and cooking—activities that reflected both her nurturing nature and strong work ethic. Her home was often filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals and the warmth of shared stories around the table.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice as well as all the caregivers who assisted during this time, especially her niece, Kim Altman.

Nancy Bellflowers Hanna, 70, widow of Jerl “Jerry” Hanna, Jr., passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the McLeod Hospice House on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Nancy was surrounded by her loving family as she stepped into the arms of her Savior.

A daughter of Nellie Bellflowers and the late Mack Bellflowers, Nancy was born on March 14, 1955 in Columbia, South Carolina. Her family later moved to Johnsonville where she grew up within the community that she spent the majority of her life. She was a graduate of the Johnsonville High Class of 1973. Her early years laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication, compassion, and unwavering faith.

Nancy devoted her professional life to McLeod’s Hospital, where she served as a Computer Analyst. Over the course of 35 years, she became a trusted and respected member of the hospital community before retiring. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.

A member of Old Johnsonville Methodist Church, Nancy served faithfully in a variety of church offices throughout the years. Her deep-rooted faith was not only evident in her service but also in the way she lived each day—with humility, grace, and a heart always turned toward others. Nancy will always be remembered for her servant’s heart and her unwavering faith, which guided and shaped her life as well as shaped the way she loved others. She lived her faith through quiet acts of kindness, humility, and a constant willingness to put the needs of others above her own. Nancy's life was a beautiful testimony of faith in action.

Nancy found great joy in simple pleasures—gardening under the Carolina sun, casting a line while fishing, and especially vacationing with family. Among her most cherished roles was that of great-grandmother, “Nana”; she treasured every moment spent with her great-grandson Mackenzie Marion Jones and eagerly anticipated the arrival of Baby Girl Jones this coming June. Nothing brought Nancy more joy than spending time with this cherished family. She provided them with love that was steady, unconditional, and freely given. This love was Nancy’s way of making others feel valued, comforted, and deeply cared for as well and above all else reflecting the love of Christ.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Melanie (Spencer) Jones; grandson, Taylor (Harley) Jones; great-grandson, Mackenzie Marion Jones; mother, Nellie Bellflowers; and brothers Jimmy (Esther) Bellflowers, Michael (Janice) Bellflowers, and Samuel (Debra) Bellflowers as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who were dear to her heart.

In addition to her father, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, Jerl "Jerry" Hanna, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Old Johnsonville Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary, located at 846 S Georgetown Highway, Johnsonville, South Carolina, 29555, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

James Ronald "Ronnie" Miller, Jr., 65, husband of Eugenia “Gena” Cantey Miller, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his home in Georgetown, South Carolina.

The only child of the late James Ronald and Verma Nobles Miller, Ronnie was born on February 16, 1960, in the same city he called home throughout his life. Ronnie was a man of deep faith, unwavering integrity, and steadfast dedication to his family, church, and community.

A proud 1978 honor graduate of Winyah High School where he played baseball for the Winyah Gators Baseball team, Ronnie continued his education at Coastal Carolina University during its early years as USC-Coastal. He went on to become a Certified Public Accountant and built a respected career as a Tax Preparer and Corporate Accountant. He was most recently employed by Ben Cox Construction Company in Andrews. His professionalism and work ethic earned him the trust and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Ronnie’s life was deeply rooted in service—both spiritual and civic. A lifelong faithful and active member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church in Georgetown, he served in numerous leadership roles over the years. He taught the Ironmen's Bible Class with passion and humility, chaired the Deacon Board with wisdom and compassion, and served as both Trustee and Treasurer for many years. His commitment to his faith community was unwavering.

Beyond the church walls, Ronnie was also a Master Mason as well as a member of Winyah Lodge #40. As a Shriner, he extended his spirit of generosity even further into charitable endeavors that touched countless lives.

Ronnie found joy in the outdoors and embraced every opportunity to be surrounded by nature. He loved fishing and was an avid hunter who traveled both within the United States and abroad to pursue his passion. A long-time member of the Lucky 13 Hunting Club, he cherished the camaraderie these adventures brought him.

Equally at home on two wheels as he was in the woods or at work, Ronnie relished time spent riding his motorcycle alongside his wife and fellow members of the Palmetto EZ Riders Motorcycle Group. These rides were more than just journeys—they were expressions of freedom, fellowship, and shared joy.

Ronnie's love for people, activities, and nature extended to enjoying all types of sports. As such, he was an avid fan and supporter of all things Gamecock.

Along with his loving wife of 45 years, Ronnie is survived by his son, James Ronald "Ron" Miller, III; grandson, Bennett Wade Miller; an uncle, Oscar Leigh "Uncle Sambo" Nobles; an aunt, Rachel Nobles; and brothers-in-law Gene (Pam) Cantey, John Floyd (Marie) Cantey, and Percy (Irene) Cantey as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by brother-in-law Jesse Gordon "Don" Cantey Jr., and sister-in-law Kristen M. Cantey.

Susie Evans Porter, 71, wife of Freddie Lee Porter, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Florence, South Carolina. Susie was a daughter of the late Jacob Evans and Margaret Evans DePrima, born on July 1, 1954, in Clarendon County, South Carolina, she lived a life rooted in faith, family, and a love for sports.

A member of Brewington Presbyterian Church, Susie found strength and community through her faith. Her presence was a constant source of warmth and support to those around her.

Susie had a lifelong passion for athletics. She especially enjoyed watching the lady Gamecocks basketball team. Among the many joys in her life, none shone brighter than her grandson Thomas Lee. Her affection for him was boundless and brought her immense happiness.

Shaun earned an Associate’s Degree and went on to build a career rooted in commitment and leadership. He served as the manager for Tire Choice in Georgetown, South Carolina, where his strong work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.

He was known not only for his professional diligence but also for his love of music—a passion that brought joy to his life and those who knew him. Whether through shared moments with family or quiet times of reflection, music was a constant companion that enriched his days.

Shaun’s devotion extended beyond the workplace. He cherished time spent with family and friends, offering support and warmth to those close to him. He will be deeply missed by many.

Larry Wayne Cameron, 75, loving husband of Ruby Reason Cameron, passed away on January 6, 2026, at his home in Florence, South Carolina.

A son of the late John Garris Cameron and Ruth Bullard Cameron Altman, Larry was born on May 12, 1950, in Georgetown, South Carolina. He lived a life marked by dedication to family, friendship, and community.

Larry began his professional journey after being recruited from college by the owner of Clanton Auto Auction. His strong work ethic and commitment led him to climb the corporate ladder over many years with the company. After his tenure at Clanton Auto Auction, he continued to share his expertise by working part-time with Charleston Auctioneers before retiring fully.

A man deeply rooted in faith and fellowship, Larry was a lifelong member of Nebo Baptist Church in Brittons Neck. In later years, as health challenges made travel more difficult for him and his wife, he attended Greenwood Baptist Church in Florence. His spiritual life remained an important cornerstone throughout his years.

Larry was known for his easy-going nature and love of good company. He cherished time spent with friends and neighbors and found joy in entertaining others. A talented cook and gracious host, he often brought people together around food and laughter. He had a special fondness for the lake—fishing and boating were among his favorite pastimes.

Family was central to Larry’s life. He was affectionately known as a “mama’s boy,” a term that reflected not only his deep love for his mother but also the warmth and loyalty he extended to all those close to him. He held dear the time spent with loved ones and took pride in being present for family gatherings.

Larry was also a proud Master Mason and a member of the Omar Shriners, organizations that reflected his values of service and brotherhood.

Wanda Jean Bolyn Baggett, 67, beloved wife of Richard "Ricky" Baggett, passed away at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina on January 5, 2026.

A daughter of the late Laris and Ila Jean Bolyn, Wanda was born on December 18, 1958, in Hemingway, South Carolina. Wanda lived a life marked by devotion to her faith, dedication to her work, and deep love for her family.

A proud graduate of Hemingway High School, Wanda went on to build a career in retail management. She served as a manager for both Scotchman convenience stores and Family Dollar. Her strong work ethic and love for the people she worked with left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.

Wanda was a woman of devout faith and an active member of Rhems Pentecostal Holiness Church. Her commitment to the church community was unwavering—she took great joy in organizing the annual turkey shoot fundraiser and working in the church kitchen. Her service was not just a duty but a heartfelt expression of her beliefs and values.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 48 years along with her son, Christopher (Jenny) Baggett; grandchildren Rebecca (Alex) Strickland, Kayla Baggett, and Preston Baggett; brother Roy Bolyn; sister Annie Ruth Bolyn Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her daughter Laura Baggett and great-grandchildren Madeline Grace Glover, Gabriel Strickland, and Kinsley Strickland.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 in the Rhems Pentecostal Holiness Church Sanctuary. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. in the Rhems Pentecost Holiness Church Sanctuary located at 14229 Brown’s Ferry Road, Georgetown, South Carolina, 29440.

Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, South Carolina, will take place in the Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 2380 State Highway 41-51, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554.
