Albert Thomas “Toolbox” Foxworth, 74, husband of Deborah “Debbie” Matthews Foxworth passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025 at his home in Hemingway, South Carolina.

A son of the late Thomas Marion and Ethel Woodberry Foxworth, Toolbox, as he was affectionately known to friends and family, was born on March 25, 1951, in Hemingway, South Carolina. He spent his life rooted in the community where he was born.

Toolbox was a man who found joy in simple pleasures and hands-on pursuits. Whether casting a line into the water or tuning up a lawn mower, he had a knack for working with his hands and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Racing also held a special place in his heart, and he enjoyed the thrill and camaraderie it brought. Above all, Toolbox loved his family and cherished every moment spent with them.

In addition to his wife, Toolbox is survived by a son, Charles Thomas (Jami) Foxworth; a daughter Mary Elizabeth (Drew) Evans; grandchildren: Christopher Thomas Foxworth, Matthew James Foxworth, and Orion Andrew Evans; sisters Marie (John) Cantey and Sandra (Mike) Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Toolbox was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Marion Ulmer Foxworth and James Leland Foxworth as well as a nephew, Josh Rogers.

Staff Sergeant James Edward Eaddy, 91, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina. A proud veteran and devoted family man, he leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and unwavering love for those around him.

A son of the late Bennie J and Corrine Hughes Eaddy, James was born on July 17, 1934, in Johnsonville, South Carolina. He graduated from Johnsonville High School before embarking on a distinguished military career that spanned over two decades.

James served honorably in the United States Army from 1952 until his retirement in 1976. After completing basic training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, James began his service career in Qui Nhon, Vietnam. During his twenty-four years of service, James’ work ethic enabled him to rise to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He completed two tours in Vietnam and was also stationed in Germany and Hawaii. James’ dedication and bravery were recognized through numerous commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and the Good Conduct Medal. His commitment to duty and country was unwavering and deeply respected by all who served alongside him.

Beyond his military accomplishments, James was known for his warm heart and generous spirit. He never met a stranger and had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome. A member of Freedom and Liberty Worship Center, he fostered relationships with others through his unwavering faith. An avid reader with a curious mind, James enjoyed reading a good book as much as he did gatherings with loved ones. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with family.

James is survived by his daughter Glenda (Jeff Skinner) Eaddy; son Benjamin Eaddy; grandchildren Mallory (Stuart) Flynn, Basil Owens III, Ashley (Immie) Powell, and Shayne (Heather) Powell; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Alice Rhames Eaddy, and his parents James was preceded in death by son Bailey “Duck” Powell; brother Bedford Eaddy; and sister Lula Beck Coker.

Funeral services for James will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2025 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel located at 416 N Main Street, Hemingway, South Carolina. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, will take in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery, 800 S. Georgetown Highway, Johnsonville, South Carolina, 29555 immediately following the funeral service.

Ginger Sue Cameron Lewis, 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina.

A daughter of the late James Rodford and Ruby Mae Cameron, Ginger was born on October 17, 1957, in Hemingway, South Carolina. She lived a life marked by generosity, passion, and deep devotion to her family.

Throughout her life, Ginger found joy in the simple pleasures that brought her closer to the people and things she loved most. She had a deep affection for animals and was known for her love of sports cars—an enthusiasm that reflected her spirited nature. Music was another constant companion in her life, providing both comfort and celebration through the years.

Ginger took great pride in her work in restaurant and retail, where she found purpose and connection with those around her. Her dedication to her job was matched only by the warmth she extended to coworkers and customers alike. Beyond her professional life, Ginger was a woman with a giving spirit. She was thankful for the opportunity to contribute to various organizations close to her heart, always seeking ways to make a positive impact. Above all else, Ginger cherished time spent with family.

Ginger is survived by her sister Sylvia Haselden; nieces Stephanie (Harry) Bolyn and Lori (Paul) Lampo; nephews Wyatt (Lisa) Cameron, Chad Haselden, and Cody (Kayla) Cameron; great-nephews Hunter Cribb, Mason Haselden, Jack Lampo, and Aiden Cameron; and great-nieces Taylor Cribb, Reese Haselden, Haisley Lampo, Kassidy Cameron, Peyton Cameron, Maddy Moran, and Genny Gunter.

In addition to her parents, Ginger was preceded in death by her son Cameron Rodford Lewis; brothers James Wildon Cameron and Ronnie D. Cameron; sister-in-law Sarah Cameron; and brother-in-law Freddie W. Haselden.

Kevin Alonzo Tanner, 65, widower of Sheri Tanner, passed away on November 23, 2025, in Hemingway, South Carolina.

A son of the late Julian Alonzo and Patricia Tanner, Kevin was born on July 26, 1960, in Jefferson City, Missouri. He lived a life marked by quiet strength and a laid-back spirit that endeared him to those around him.

A graduate of Pleasant Hill High School in the Class of 1978, Kevin pursued a career as a carpenter—a trade that reflected his hands-on nature and practical skills. Over the years, he built more than just structures; he built a life rooted in simplicity and authenticity.

In his younger days, Kevin was known as something of a rambler. He had a deep love for music and could often be found strumming his guitar or riding his motorcycle down open roads. These passions brought him joy and freedom during his early years. As time passed, he grew into more of a homebody, finding comfort in the familiar rhythms of daily life and the peace of staying close to home.

Kevin is survived by his daughter Nichole Tanner; three grandchildren; his sister, Karen Owen; and nieces Melanie Burrell, Kelly Poston, and Jessica Harden.

Those who knew Kevin will remember him as an easygoing soul—someone who moved through life with calmness and quiet humor. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who shared in his journey.

Jeanette Cribb Berry, 85, wife of Charles Berry, passed away on November 21, 2025, at her home in Ridgeville, South Carolina.

A daughter of the late Willard and Ila Cribb, Jeanette was born on November 19, 1940, in Hemingway, South Carolina. She lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to her work, love for her family, and an enduring passion for sports.

A proud graduate of Pleasant Hill High School’s Class of 1959, Jeanette carried the values of hard work and perseverance into her professional life. She built a successful career as a mortgage loan processor with Bank of America and Compass Mortgage where her diligence and professionalism left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond her career, Jeanette found great joy on the softball field. An active member of an adult travel softball team, she played third base with enthusiasm and skill. Her husband, Charles, shared in this passion by coaching her team for a time—an experience that brought them closer together through their mutual love of the game.

In addition to her husband, Jeanette is survived by her brothers Walt (Sylvia) Cribb and Norton (Vera) Cribb; her sister Pansy Ard; and numerous nieces and nephews who were touched by her warmth and spirited nature.

Jeanette was predeceased in death by her sister and brother-in-law Maxine and Milton Ortiz-Velez as well as brother-in-law Larry Ard.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery located at 11940 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554. The family will receive friends from 10:45 – 11:45 a.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Family Life Cemetery, 11940 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554.

Esther Jones De-La Cruz, 62, passed away at her daughter’s home in Hemingway, South Carolina on Friday, November 21, 2025.

Esther was a fun-loving individual with a robust laugh that invited the laughter of those around her. She began driving a school bus while still in high school. After high school, she continued to serve the children of the community as a driver for many years. Later, Esther worked for Baxter’s in Kingstree, South Carolina as well as Conway Manor Nursing Home in Conway, South Carolina.

Esther was a member of Marsh Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. During her younger years, she enjoyed playing the piano and singing at church. As she grew older, she enjoyed reading a good book.

Esther is survived by her children, Jessica (Rosendo) Velazquez, Robert Earl (Cindy) McDaniel, Erica Dale McDaniel, and Mary Erin (Juan) Vivanco; grandchildren: Estella (Felipe), Ivan, Roberto (Selena), Lupe (Hugo), Ariella, Luis, Elisa (Franklin), and Juan David; and great-grandchildren: Elliana, Nicolas, and Angel.

Esther was predeceased by a granddaughter, Maria Angela Vivanco; maternal grandmother Hallie Marsh; paternal grandparents LB and Geneva Jones; and an uncle HM Marsh.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel located at 416 N Main Street, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554. The family will receive friends in the Morris Funeral Home chapel 1 hour prior to the funeral.

Savola Mae Avant McCants Evans, 93, found peace in the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Tamassee, South Carolina.

Born in Hemingway, South Carolina on February 7, 1932, she was the daughter of Luther Avant and Anna Cox Avant.

She was married to Edwin Nettles McCants, Jr. of Nesmith until his passing. She later married Kenneth Marshall Evans of Summerville, SC and was married to him until his passing.

Savola was always concerned about others. She loved calling her close friends and family to find out how everyone was doing. She enjoyed spending time crocheting as well as traveling back home to visit loved ones. Her church was very important to her. She always looked forward to receiving and reading the bulletins. Savola’s greatest love was her family and her puppy, Sophie.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Savola is predeceased by her sister, Olivia Avant Lewis, and a great grandchild, Samuel Ard.

Savola is survived by daughters: Kay McCants, Mary Anna McCants Ard, and Mae Marie McCants Cox (Henry Cox); a son, Edwin “Eddie” Nettles McCants, III; grandchildren: Rici Lahn, Ryan Lahn, Cal Ard, Elizabeth McCants, Nathan Cox, and Heather Marlowe; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Hemingway First Methodist Church, 201 East Broad Street, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of the Hemingway First Methodist Church 1 hour prior to the funeral service.

Blanche Louise Capps, 99, widow of Boyd Capps, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025, surrounded by her family in Dillon, South Carolina.

A daughter of the late Mack and Edna Harrelson Capps, Blanche was born on June 30, 1926, in Georgetown County, South Carolina. She was a soft-spoken lady who took immense pride in her family and the life she built through perseverance and love. She lived a long and meaningful life rooted in dedication to her family and an unwavering work ethic.

A graduate of Pleasant Hill High School, Blanche spent many years working as a Take-up Operator for Wellman Industries, Inc. in Johnsonville. Her commitment to hard work extended well beyond her years with Wellman when, after retiring, Blanche continued to keep active by working part-time at Burger King in Hemingway. Her industrious spirit was matched only by the quiet strength and pride with which she completed all tasks.

Outside of work, Blanche enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Aside from spending time with family, Blanche’s favorite pastime was tending to the flowers in her yard. When not working at a job, caring for her flowers, or spending time with family; she could often be found reading or completing word searches. These activities kept Blanche’s mind sharp.

Blanche is survived by a son, Boyd L. Capps; three daughters; Linda Webster, Delores Fosberg, and Sondra Capps; grandchildren: Susan (Daryl) Oliver, Donna (Chris) Williams, Kevin (Jzsanettae) Webster, and Becky (Vernon) Thornton; great-grandchildren: Joshua, Noah, Idlania, Landriel, Konal, Kalon, Zachary, and Amber; a sister, Rena Mae Capps Cox Pope; and a brother Jimmy (Linda) Capps.

In addition to her husband and parents, Blanche was predeceased by two grandsons: Christopher Boyd Capps and Patrick Rion Capps; daughter-in-law Brenda H. Capps; sons-in-law Donald Webster and Douglas Fosberg; and siblings William Capps, Bessie Howard, Dorothy Powers, Lucille Andreason, and Rhetta Howard.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel located at 416 N Main Street, Hemingway, SC, 29554. The family will receive friends in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel one hour prior to the service.

Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, will follow the funeral in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery, 800 S Georgetown Highway, Johnsonville, SC, 29555.

As we honor all who serve and have served on this Veterans Day, Morris Funeral Home wishes to recognize one of our licensed funeral directors/embalmers, Mr. Joshua Garza, who served in the United States Air Force from 1977 to 1979 as a security police specialist at Castle AFB in Merced, California. Josh comes from a family of veterans, including his father, who served in World War II and Korea, and says that, although he served for 2 years, those were among the best years of his life. Thank you, Josh, for your service, and thanks to all the brave men and women who have sacrificed so we can enjoy the freedoms we value today!
