James Ronald "Ronnie" Miller, Jr., 65, husband of Eugenia “Gena” Cantey Miller, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his home in Georgetown, South Carolina.
The only child of the late James Ronald and Verma Nobles Miller, Ronnie was born on February 16, 1960, in the same city he called home throughout his life. Ronnie was a man of deep faith, unwavering integrity, and steadfast dedication to his family, church, and community.
A proud 1978 honor graduate of Winyah High School where he played baseball for the Winyah Gators Baseball team, Ronnie continued his education at Coastal Carolina University during its early years as USC-Coastal. He went on to become a Certified Public Accountant and built a respected career as a Tax Preparer and Corporate Accountant. He was most recently employed by Ben Cox Construction Company in Andrews. His professionalism and work ethic earned him the trust and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Ronnie’s life was deeply rooted in service—both spiritual and civic. A lifelong faithful and active member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church in Georgetown, he served in numerous leadership roles over the years. He taught the Ironmen's Bible Class with passion and humility, chaired the Deacon Board with wisdom and compassion, and served as both Trustee and Treasurer for many years. His commitment to his faith community was unwavering.
Beyond the church walls, Ronnie was also a Master Mason as well as a member of Winyah Lodge #40. As a Shriner, he extended his spirit of generosity even further into charitable endeavors that touched countless lives.
Ronnie found joy in the outdoors and embraced every opportunity to be surrounded by nature. He loved fishing and was an avid hunter who traveled both within the United States and abroad to pursue his passion. A long-time member of the Lucky 13 Hunting Club, he cherished the camaraderie these adventures brought him.
Equally at home on two wheels as he was in the woods or at work, Ronnie relished time spent riding his motorcycle alongside his wife and fellow members of the Palmetto EZ Riders Motorcycle Group. These rides were more than just journeys—they were expressions of freedom, fellowship, and shared joy.
Ronnie's love for people, activities, and nature extended to enjoying all types of sports. As such, he was an avid fan and supporter of all things Gamecock.
Along with his loving wife of 45 years, Ronnie is survived by his son, James Ronald "Ron" Miller, III; grandson, Bennett Wade Miller; an uncle, Oscar Leigh "Uncle Sambo" Nobles; an aunt, Rachel Nobles; and brothers-in-law Gene (Pam) Cantey, John Floyd (Marie) Cantey, and Percy (Irene) Cantey as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by brother-in-law Jesse Gordon "Don" Cantey Jr., and sister-in-law Kristen M. Cantey.
