The EBP is thrilled to share that Dr. Adrianna Wechsler Zimring was recently honored as The Distinguished Department Alumni for Psychology by UNLV’s College of Liberal Arts during the 2023 Alumni Awards and Honors Convocation. This recognition is bestowed upon individuals who embody success, and have built their success on an education foundation rooted in liberal arts. The university honors these individuals and tells their stories to inspire our current students and emerging alumni.

Dr. Zimring was nominated for this honor by Dr. Michelle Paul, the Executive Director of UNLV PRACTICE - an interdisciplinary community mental health training clinic. Dr. Paul wrote: “Dr. Zimring is a remarkable pediatric psychologist who has built her professional career in Nevada. She and her clinic (The EBP) are a trusted practicum and post-degree training site for our mental health graduate students who leave UNLV PRACTICE for advanced training in pediatric and adult mental health treatment and assessment. After graduating from UNLV and completing her postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. Zimring returned to Nevada where she saw the need and decided to do something about it. She has worked at all system levels (community, regional, state, and federal), in multiple settings (private practice, nonprofit training clinics, public and private schools, and medical schools), and in multiple roles (as a practitioner, supervisor, mentor, trainer, instructor, legislative advocate, and administrator). One would be hard pressed to find anyone in the state who knows more about the systems and history of the mental health needs of our youth. If you are looking for a distinguished alum who has demonstrated the passion, dedication and Rebel Spirit to make things happen, you have found it in Dr. Zimring.”

Congratulations, Dr. Zimring!

Our Story

Licensed psychologists Dr. Adrianna Wechsler Zimring, Dr. Whitney Owens, and Dr. Jordan Soper each have deep roots in Southern Nevada. They share a commitment to improving access to evidence-based behavioral healthcare in our community.

The EBP grew from Dr. Zimring’s desire to synthesize the best aspects of university medical centers, research-based programs and agencies, non-profit treatment centers, and for-profit educational companies and private practices into an integrated behavioral healthcare clinic and training program.

Nevada faces a mental health crisis. Our state is ranked 51st in the country for mental health services and availability according to Mental Health America. The EBP team believes it is not enough to provide high quality behavioral healthcare. We must actively work toward improving the availability and quality of skilled providers in our community, so that everyone who needs care can access it. The EBP is a sustainable training model in evidence-based services for current and future providers in the greater Las Vegas valley. In other words, The EBP is helping to grow evidence-based practitioners where none existed.
