☀️ Morning Light is Powerful — But So Is Eye Protection! 🕶️
With summer here, you’ve probably heard how getting sunlight first thing in the morning can boost your mood, energy, and sleep quality — and it’s true! 🧠 Dr. Andrew Huberman recommends getting 10–20 minutes of natural light exposure early in the day to help regulate your circadian rhythm and increase dopamine and cortisol levels naturally.
BUT… as eye doctors, we also know that UV rays are strongest during those same early hours — and unprotected exposure can increase the risk of cataracts, macular degeneration, and pterygium. 😎👁️
🧠 + 👁️ So here’s the summer tip from science + optometry:
✔️ Get that morning light! Step outside within an hour of waking.
✔️ Skip the sunglasses for 5–10 minutes if you’re comfortable, but avoid direct sun staring.
✔️ Then wear quality UV-blocking sunglasses to protect your eyes for the rest of your time outdoors.
🌿 Balance is key: support your brain and protect your vision!
