Veterans Day is a reminder that we stand on the shoulders of those before us. Somber, uplifting and blessed all in one. My father and mother are buried here. Many of you know that just over 2 months ago I was able to visit Japan with two of my children and a daughter in law who were there for the first time. I was able to explore how Japanese dentists practice the same and how they practice different than us in the States. It was eye-opening! Seeing your area of practice in other countries is truly enlightening and enriching. We are all in this together!! Wonderful memorable experience!!

My. Dad, bless his heart, would have been 90 today. He was a great respected dentist, whose practice and life were cut short by the ravages of Parkinson's disease. I always looked up to him and followed in his footsteps to become a dentist. I will always appreciate his example, his humor and the gentle way he taught and encouraged me to be my best.

In my recent trip to Japan, I had the opportunity to visit Nara and see the cast bronze Buddha from 750 AD. Add you may know, I was born in Japan while my Dad was serving as a dentist in the Air Force. I last saw this Buddha when I was one. I don't remember it. Some of you may know I was born in Japan and served an LDS mission there 45 years ago. I am currently in Japan taking my daughter, my son and his wife to various points of interest. We are in Kyoto currently and next to our knife making class we found a toothbrush store, very fun! I have a little business to tend to on Monday and will pay about that then!
