For years, balance training has focused on hips and core.

But what I’ve been studying inside the nervous system tells a different story.

Your eyes, your coordination, your feet, all working together.

And most importantly, your toes.

When your toes are restricted, your entire system compensates.

Your base becomes unstable, and tension builds in the lower back and hips.

When your toes open and engage, your body finds support again.

Gravity has somewhere to go.

This is where balance actually begins.

She looked at me and said,“Teacher… where am I supposed to be squeezing?”

“I should be squeezing something, right?”

I started laughing!

Because this is what we’ve (including me) been taught

Effort equals progress, most of the time.
If we’re not squeezing and efforting, we’re not doing it right.

in life, as well as in "movement art" we contract and we expand all day everyday.

There are moments we contract and gather, this will create stability & support.
And there are moments to expand and open up, and soften.
To allow the body mind to organize without force.

If you stay in contraction, you compress.
If you stay in expansion, you lose structure.

The art is knowing when to do each.

You don’t need to squeeze everything.
You just need to feel when and where it’s actually needed. It was such a fun moment to share with her!

In the laughter that followed her question, we were definitely doing both.
What a beautiful moment w

Most people think breath work is something you “try” to do.
But if your body isn’t organized for it…

your breath will never fully move.

Today, I’m guiding you through something simple, yet incredibly powerful, learning how small, subtle movements can open your middle and upper breathing centers so your breath can actually expand.

This is where real change begins.

If sitting upright to breathe feels uncomfortable, tight, or restricted, that’s not a failure… it’s feedback.

Your body may simply need a different position to access ease.

Start lying down.
Knees bent.
Let the body reorganize.

From there, we begin to notice:
• Are your ribs splaying open instead of supporting your breath?
• Can your spine find a place of true neutrality, where nothing is gripping?
• Are you breathing only forward… or can you expand into the side body?

When your breath starts to move through all centers together, something shifts.

You don’t just breathe better.
You feel more in control of your body.

This is the foundation of everything, Pilates, GYROKINESIS®, meditation, healing.
It all begins with how you breathe.

And sometimes… the smallest movements create the biggest awareness.

✨ Save this to come back to your breath later
✨ Try it lying down tonight and notice what changes

Because sleep is not just about time.

It is about whether your body actually moved through the stages that restore you.
Most people never think about this.

Throughout the night, your brain moves through 4 distinct stages of sleep, and each one has a specific role:

Physical repair
Nervous system reset
Memory processing
Emotional recovery

If even one of these stages is shortened or disrupted, you can wake up feeling heavy, foggy, or like you never really slept.

This is where things start to shift.

When you understand how sleep actually works, you stop guessing… and start supporting your body in a completely different way.

In this video, I walk you through the 4 stages of sleep in a simple, clear way so you can begin to recognize what your body actually needs.

Watch here: and notice what changes for you tonight with your awareness on your sleep.

There are times we must try. Effort in action, in communication, in movement. April energy beckons us to try, as movement in this moment expresses. Remember, we get many tries in this Life.

Sleep is not passive, your body is working the entire time.
As you fall asleep, your brain begins to slow
Deep sleep repairs your tissues and supports recovery
REM sleep organizes your thoughts and forms new connections
This is happening every single night.
Once you understand this, you start to see your sleep differently.

If you’re doing everything right but still not sleeping well, these small shifts can change everything.

Light exposure, breathing, and how you use your body during the day all affect how deeply you sleep at night.

Try this tonight and notice what changes.

If your quads tend to do all the work, your hips and glutes may not be contributing the way they should.

That pattern is called being quad dominant, and it often shows up as tight hips, lower back tension, or glutes that feel difficult to activate.

In this short workout, I guide you through a 8 minute ankle weight glute and hip series designed to wake up the posterior chain, the muscles along the back of the body that help support your spine, stabilize your hips, and improve the way you move. If you feel wired, tired, tense, or overstimulated right now…

This is for you.

I filmed a 10 minute nervous system downshift you can do on the floor, no equipment, no intensity, just breath and simple movement.
The full guided reset is on YouTube and I wrote it out step by step on my blog.
If your body has been in go mode all day, give it 10 minutes to come back to safety.
