Last week we practiced Tapas, not hummus and small plates, but the heat of disclipine. It is the friction that transforms us, burning away the habits and thoughts that no longer serve us. Think of a piece of clay: it only becomes strong and functional after it sits in the heat of the kiln. In our practice, Tapas isn’t about pushing until we break, it’s about staying present in the “sensational” moments. It is the conscious choice to stay when the mind wants to run.
Use your practice to stoke this internal fire, not to burn yourself out, but to illuminate your strength and refine your focus.
💚 Just like striking a match, the friction we feel in a long hold is what creates the spark of growth.
💚 When the pose gets loud, notice your reaction. Can you soften your jaw and stay for one more breath?
💚 Tapas is discipline fueled by love, not a desire to punish the body. We stay because we care about our growth.
Heat burns away the fluff. What is left when you strip away the stories you tell yourself about what you “can’t do”?
Tapas isn’t something we leave on the mat. It is the discipline to show up for your life, your values, and your growth, even when things feel ‘hot’ or uncomfortable.
Every time you finish your practice, notice the difference between the You that started the effort and the You that finished it. You have been refined by your own effort.
Carry that inner light with you.
