Living the Mission

We are celebrating Jane Hester, Rehab Front Office Coordinator, as our Service Excellence Award recipient for living out our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ.

When a patient shared she had no food, limited resources and no transportation, Jane took immediate action. She rallied her team, coordinated support and personally ensured the patient had nourishing food to last through the holiday weekend. Even after her shift ended, Jane went the extra mile, delivering the food herself with care and compassion.

Jane’s actions beautifully reflect our Love Me Service Standard and remind us what it means to care for the whole person. Thank you, Jane, for making our patients feel seen, supported and at home. 💙

We’re proud to recognize our 2025 Patient Experience Award winners across AdventHealth Medical Group locations in Western North Carolina. This year, 21 of our patient care locations were chosen as locations that patients consistently say they would recommend to the people they love most.

For patients, this recognition means something simple and important: care you can feel confident in. It reflects teams who listen closely, communicate clearly and care for the whole person — not just a condition or appointment.

These clinics achieved top quartile performance in Likelihood to Recommend Practice from June 2024 through June 2025, based on patient feedback. That trust is earned one interaction at a time, through safety, compassion and respect.

We were honored to celebrate a milestone with a ribbon cutting and guided tours of our new Neonatal Acute Care Unit, often referred to as the NICU. This is a space built with love, purpose and hope. On January 5, it will open as the first neonatal acute care unit in Henderson County, bringing specialized care closer to home for our smallest patients and their families.

This moment would not be possible without the extraordinary nursing and neonatal care teams in The Baby Place, whose compassion and expertise care for babies and families every day, nor without the generous community donors who helped turn this vision into reality.

Together, we’re extending hope and healing from the very first moments of life - surrounding families with expert care, comfort and faith-centered support when it matters most.

Our incredible Engineering team helped turn a major office move into a smooth, uplifting experience for our Collaborative Improvement team! The North Carolina Supreme Court has declined to take up the final appeal challenging AdventHealth’s Certificate of Need for a new hospital in Weaverville. This decision clears the way for us to move forward with plans to expand access to high quality whole-person care in Western North Carolina.

As this process moves ahead, we also remain focused on the community’s growing needs. A public hearing for AdventHealth’s separate 129-bed Certificate of Need application is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16, providing another opportunity for community input on the future of care in the region.
