Danielle came from a farming and small business background in Eastern North Carolina before she started her journey in funeral service. She has always loved the mountains, and she was excited when she got the opportunity to relocate to Western North Carolina in January 2026. Danielle has a passion for serving others
during difficult times.

Danielle has three wonderful sons (and three amazing daughters-in-law), and ten fabulous grandkids. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, horseback riding, walking trails with her faithful canine companion Sadie Mae, and reading.

โ€œAs we serve others, we are working on ourselves; every act, every word, every
gesture of genuine compassion naturally nourishes our own hearts.โ€

๐ŸŒน Rose: You're a classic. Timeless, elegant, and a little romantic at heart.
๐ŸŒท Tulip: You appreciate simplicity and beauty in equal measure.
๐ŸŒป Sunflower: You light up a room. Warm, joyful, and impossible to ignore.
๐ŸŒธ Lily: You bring peace wherever you go. Calm, graceful, and deeply loved.

Flowers have always been a way to say what words can't. What's your favorite?

A eulogy isn't about finding the perfect words. It's about telling the truth about someone's life.

The funny stories. The quiet moments. The things only you would know.

When we share those memories out loud, something shifts. The person we lost becomes real again, not just to us, but to everyone in the room.

The best eulogies aren't polished. They're personal.

Every day, our Outreach Director (pictured on the left) is out in the community building relationships with organizations that support the families we serveโ€” before, during, and after a loss.

This week, our team had the pleasure of welcoming Libby Cook, Community Liaison with Visiting Angels of Western North Carolina (pictured on the right). Libby shared information with our team about the in-home care services they provide.

Weโ€™re grateful for partnerships like these that allow us to better serve our community.

A will and a pre-plan are not the same thing, and you might need both.

A will covers what happens to your stuff: your home, your accounts, your belongings. It goes into effect after you pass and has to go through probate.

A pre-plan covers what happens to you: your funeral wishes, your service details, and sometimes even the costs. It goes into effect immediately and takes the burden off your family.

One protects your assets. The other protects your loved ones from having to guess.

Ask someone in their 60s, 70s, or 80s about their strongest memories, and most of them will come from the same window: ages 15 to 25.

Psychologists call this the "reminiscence bump."

It's why the songs from our teenage years still hit different. Why we remember that first car, that first job, that first heartbreak in vivid detail.

Those years shape who we become. And when we sit with someone near the end of life, those are often the stories they want to tell.

What's your strongest memory from that time?

It's one of the most important conversations you'll ever have, and one of the easiest to put off.

Here are 6 ways to start:
1. Pick a calm, quiet moment (not during a crisis)
2. Start by sharing your own wishes first
3. Ask open-ended questions like "What matters most to you?"
4. Listen without jumping in to fix or solve
5. Write down what you both agree on
6. Revisit it once a year because wishes can change

You don't have to figure it all out in one conversation. You just have to start.
