Hendersonville, TN – A select team of Middle Tennessee surgeons have begun operating at the Indian Lake Surgery Center, Tennessee's newest State-of-the-Art surgical facility. It is the product of collaboration between top area surgeons and a nationally recognized Surgery Center Development group. The center is located on Saundersville Road near The Goddard School, across from the Greenway Park and Hendersonville Library, in the heart of the rapidly developing Indian Lake Village. The new center is the first to provide residents of Hendersonville, Sumner and all surrounding counties ready access to an outpatient surgical facility that rivals the very best centers in Middle Tennessee. "We continue to improve surgical and anesthetic techniques to allow our patients to have smaller, more effective, quicker-recovery procedures, with less pain, risk, and cost. We have been particularly successful with shoulder, knee, spine and other orthopedic procedures,” explains Hopkins trained Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Thomas Gautsch, "My experience is that it's often a struggle at big institutions to stay on the leading edge and remain patient-centered. Here we can easily do both.” Fellow Hopkins alum, Dr. Paul Grutter adds "There's no question that the prevailing trend continues to be away from the hospital setting and towards state-of-the-art outpatient facilities, like ILSC. "Building Indian Lake Surgery Center here was a great choice," states Dr. Gregg Motz of Premier Orthopedics. "Hendersonville had been the largest (and fastest growing) city without a surgery center in all of Tennessee, but now it has one of the best." According to census data, one-third of Sumner County's over 168,000 residents live in Hendersonville. A check of several surrounding counties also reveals that Trousdale, Robertson, Smith, and Macon County's additional 100,000 residents, are without a local surgery center, and will also immediately benefit from easy access to the new facility. "Over half of the [Sumner County] population lives within about a 10-mile radius of this surgery center, Placing ILSC here will immediately eliminate many long, congested drives to downtown Nashville for the people of Sumner and surrounding counties, including me." concluded previous Vanderbilt Surgeon Dr. Marc Tressler, now of Premier Orthopedics. The 7,300 square-foot facility features an assortment of advanced surgical equipment, unlike any other in the region. It includes integrated high-definition, high-resolution video scope systems, digital imaging, microsurgical, computer assisted, surgical navigation and high-tech patient monitoring systems. The new surgery center is also projected to provide more cost effective care compared to larger, high-overhead institutions, in part due to its increased efficiencies. Additionally, according to the Administrator, the founding surgeons insisted on a one-of-a-kind discount payment policy to benefit patients with high deductibles or who plan to pay their portion at the time of their procedures, which could result in even more significant savings compared to traditional hospital-based surgery.
