Summer is for making memories in the water, but safety comes first, no matter your child’s age.

Here are some essential tips to keep every swimmer protected:
🔹 Supervision is #1. Never leave kids unattended, even for a moment
🔹 Always check water depth and clarity before allowing play
🔹 Use properly fitted life jackets, not water wings or pool noodles
🔹 Reinforce pool rules: no running, no diving in shallow water, and no horseplay
🔹 Apply waterproof sunscreen every 2 hours
🔹 Keep drinking water close to prevent dehydration
🔹 Establish a whistle or signal for kids to come out of the pool when needed
🔹 Take breaks. Tired swimmers are at higher risk for accidents

Summer adventures mean more time outside and a higher risk of ticks. Here’s how to help keep your child safe:

✅ Check your child’s body after outdoor play, especially after hikes or time in grassy or wooded areas.

✅ Look closely at hidden spots: scalp, behind ears, under arms, around the waist, behind knees, and between toes.

✅ Bathe or shower your child within 2 hours of coming indoors to help remove any unattached ticks.

✅ Found a tick? Use fine-tipped tweezers to remove it carefully, then wash the area.

✅ Call your pediatrician if you notice a rash, fever, or unusual symptoms in the weeks after a bite.

A quick tick check can help prevent Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.
