Beautifully restored expression, and a return of the blue of her iris ✨
This patient is seen 1 week after levator muscle repair (ptosis surgery). The levator is the muscle that lifts the upper eyelid, and over time it can stretch or slip, allowing the lid to sit lower over the pupil. This commonly happens from aging, prior eye surgery, contact lens use, or natural tissue laxity.
In her before, the eyelid was covering part of the pupil, limiting both appearance & function. In her after, you can see a brighter, more open eye with natural symmetry restored.
While this procedure takes years off the appearance, it also restores everyday function. Patients with ptosis often struggle with activities like reading, driving, & seeing clearly in low light. Repairing the levator improves comfort, confidence, & real-world visual performance, along with the aesthetics.
