Join RISE on Friday, March 6th, as we come together in remembrance and compassion. On this day, we pause to honor the beautiful lives lost to overdose: sons, daughters, parents, friends- each truly loved and deeply missed.

Observed each year on March 6, Black Balloon Day is a time to remember those lost to overdose. The day began in 2015 after a family tragedy. Diane and Lauren Hurley started Black Balloon Day in memory of Greg Tremblay, a father of four who died from an overdose on March 6, 2015. What began as a personal tribute to a beloved family member has since grown into a nationwide observance, with people across the United States (and beyond) displaying black balloons as a symbol of remembrance, love, and lives that will never be forgotten.

Wear black in memory.
Take home a balloon in their honor.
Hold space for healing.
Let love be louder than stigma. 🩵
