Kelly Bloodgood, Owner of Well + Good Health Studio
Kelly Bloodgood was so sick she could not get out of bed. In constant pain, she felt as though she was watching her life go by as she missed her 3 kids’ soccer games, recitals, vacations, and school events - too exhausted and miserable to engage with the world around her.
To make matters worse, many of the symptoms she was experiencing (headaches, dizziness, fatigue, joint/body pain) kept leading to incorrect diagnoses. Finally a friend recommended the Holtorf Medical Group, aka the “medical detectives”. In the spring of 2017, Kelly began undergoing rigorous tests and by that summer, she finally got an explanation for the mysterious health issues that were wreaking havoc on her life.
Kelly was diagnosed with Lyme disease, most likely contracted by a tick bite when she was a child. If treated immediately with antibiotics, complete recovery is possible. If left untreated, it can lead to chronic symptoms – many of the exact ones Kelly had been living with for many years.
Kelly left the doctor’s office that day with a prescription for 8 months of antibiotics, a huge shopping list of supplements and medications, and an ominous statement from her doctor, “You will feel worse before you feel better.” His words proved to be true. As the antibiotics attacked the bacteria and released toxins into her body, her symptoms actually intensified. In the midst of her pain-filled fog, Kelly began researching her newly diagnosed illness.
